This ad makes me want nothing more than to have my old CRX Si back.

I like it, but at the eBay starting price or so, and not the CL ask.

I always felt that GM missed a trick in not using some of their European platforms before they did. The SL/SC1 was a good enough car when it was introduced, but the second-generation S series were seriously lagging in a lot of areas compared to other current cars. They sold because they were easy to buy (no-haggle

A bit, in the proportions and rear window line. I think it more resembles a Mustang notchback than a Celica, though. More angular.

The details are all over the place, though.

CP because a number of mods seem to have been done on the cheap.

I see what you did there.

I clipped that advert out of a magazine and it hung on my wall for years.

Am reminded of the following:

If I’m not mistaken, earlier examples were frequently sent back to the factory for “upgrades”, and would be returned as the newest iteration. That's one of the reasons the earliest ones are so rare.

This one looks like it was built in a Los Angeles garage in about 1950. I find that kind of interesting.

Because I can’t afford an ‘02 Tii, that’s why. To me, the E30 is the last BMW “sports sedan”. From the E36 on they became luxury cars. Yeah, they're faster and probably turn faster lap times, but the focus went away from driving pleasure and towards cosseting the passengers.

Not really the case here in the States. BMWs seldom reach cheap beater status.

The 1950’s BMC-esque front end on this (or maybe Rootes? I’m catching multiple influences in this mashup) combined with the square-rigged Roller roofline, makes me think this was fizzed up in a garage over the course of a long weekend.

One of my favorite cars. I might add the 613 to the list too.

I'm in love, and I'm not even much of a truck guy. I haven't been this in love with a vehicle in at least 45 minutes.

Man, I saw one of those at a hot rod show in Iowa last month, it'd been mildly modded and was kind of crusty. I had exactly the same thought!

See, that’s what I like about your build. Swapping in the Toyota mill didn’t require all sorts of permanent modifications. Should you or some future owner want to swap in a more “appropriate” engine, it’s a pretty simple thing to do. (Personally, I’d do it, but I just like V-8’s a bit more than turbo sixes).

Now I

You see them cause they’re dirt cheap to buy-they’re practically disposable.

NP. Straight, honest, and different from the usual suspects at the car show. You can't go wrong here-fix the leaks and you'll make money on this if you decide to sell later.
