I honestly didn’t realize the big deal about the series until I played Earthbound recently for the Wii U VC. I didn’t finish it, but I felt a lot of charm and heart that’s missing from today’s games. Holding some hope for an official release of Mother 3.

Damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Poor Nintendo. I think it’s odd that people still complain and nitpick despite Nintendo delivering on a female avatar in Hyrule Warriors (not just Linkle, but Sheik, Zelda, and Ruto as well) and the fact that you can play as Zelda in Spirit Tracks. I thought that idea of

Maybe we’ll actually get a playable Sephiroth?

I actually didn’t notice that particular recreation at first. Good eye, Kotaku. The one I did notice, however, is the final stare-down/showdown between Ike and Cloud. It mimics the direction, camerawork and outcome of the final battle between Cloud and Sephiroth.

What an awesome postmortem piece. The scholars behind Japanese-to-English RPG localization will always be under-appreciated, but it’s nice to see articles like these highlighting them. I’ve yet to play FC despite owning it for a few years, but I blindly sunk in my cash to SC knowing how much blood, sweat, and tears

Um...this has already been around for more than a decade.

Um...so what’s new with this exactly? The petition is completely pointless. It’s as if the writer of this article and the supporters were living under the rock. The Wii U has always had poor internal storage. Nintendo has been advertising external HDD for larger downloads for years now. Just get an external HDD with a

I’m not a Transformers fan, but wow they absolutely nailed the 80s cartoon look with the cel-shading. I LOVE the aesthetics. It’s extremely difficult to get an 80s cartoon look flowing so well in a modern game. It definitely looks the part. I don’t know what they did to get that look just right, but props whoever’s

Give me a source that the game has been in development for 4 years. Or are you just being sarcastic?

Looks like Miyamoto’s executive creative fellow powers are showing. I know the Wii U really needs games right now, but recognizing that your game needs more polish is something the industry sorely needs in this day and age. We’ve already seen too many rushed disasters even from the best of them, and Star Fox doesn’t

What a beautiful looking and sounding game. As a huge Tri-Ace fan, I hope that western publishers don’t pass up on this one.

These indie developers should be disappointed, sure. But being self-entitled brats and demanding something that wasn’t guaranteed in the first place is out of line. You don’t build your game around funds that aren’t guaranteed. That’s extremely risky and whoever does it is solely responsible for their actions.

I’m so glad I didn’t pre-order. That’s why betas shouldn’t be locked against a firewall like buying the actual game. I hope everyone who pre-ordered cancels so that Capcom doesn’t rush so-called betas which are supposed to be alphas.

Good riddance. While innovative, it was set up to fail due to limited compatibility and being locked to very few countries.

He was tired from franchises, sequels and formulaic design in general. Kirby Air Ride was negatively received by the press due to these concerns, and that negativity plus pressure within HAL and Nintendo to continue churning out sequels made him quit the company. He went on to develop Meteos for Q Entertainment. Then

Fasinating stuff. Fantastic job by Glitterberri, who has previously not disappointed with the Hyrule Historia Japanese coverage.

I’m sure that Iwata’s passing affected Sakurai a lot since he’s one of the few who started out with him in HAL Labs. If you think about it, if it weren’t for Iwata, we wouldn’t have gotten Smash Bros. Brawl, Smash 4, and Kid Icarus: Uprising. This was all possible because of Iwata’s friendship and understanding of

Nintendo is in a lose-lose situation wtih FE: Fates as it is an incredible burden on the localizers and it definitely won’t be perfect. With the recent situations going on in the US, Fates will be under a huge spotlight. Having something like gay marriage in a Nintendo game is a first for the localizers, and despite

I remember the times when Collector’s Editions were a big deal and an actual celebration of a game release. Lunar: Silver Star Story for the PS1 was such a special purchase for me which I unfortunately regret letting go of later in life. Now, Collector’s Editions is such an easy label to put on a game. Just slap a
