Man I feel you so much. This is exactly what slowly went through my mind and Anthem’s release made me fully realize the reality. I’ve often left gaming for a while and there were times where I thought it was changing away from me.

I feel modern gaming is actually starting to pass me by, and I’m not that sad about it. Games as service, loot boxes, games that don’t work without a day one patch... these just make me want to play Super Mario Brothers.

Very good article. Unfortunately, at heart, this isn’t even a video game issue. This is a people issue -you see similar creepiness everywhere from professional athletes to politicians to Hollywood to music to, yes, video game players.
