    I've got 4 legendary items and 2 exotic items. Everything I own requires Helium or Iron to be upgraded, so I "harvest" spinmetal and sell back. If I get something that requires spinmetal, I can easily get more by doing patrols for a half hour.

    Yep. But if you're in the position I am where all of your legendary/exotic items require Helium and Iron only, then you know that Spinmetal is able to be traded. It's not like there's a limited supply or anything. In an hour of running around the moon, I was able to get about 80 helium pieces to upgrade my items.

    You can buy Marks by trading in 50 level collectibles (Helium, Spinmetal, Relic Iron, etc). If you farm enough of that you can buy whatever you want.

    I agree in principle, but right now it's the only way to level up once you get to Lvl 23-24. Bungie needs to make it slightly easier to get legendary items (personally think more marks for the Strikes). So it's either spend 20-30 hours doing the same 10 story missions/strikes, or spend 2-3 hours shooting at a cave.
