I personally think handcuffs should be sufficient to control a heavily pregnant inmate. Unless they’re a special case where the person is known to be violent and dangerous, there’s really no reason to put waist shackles or leg shackles on someone who’s pregnant.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding you, but are you saying it’s mutually exclusive to be pro-choice and pro-not shackling pregnant inmates? I’m concerned for the health of the prisoner. Not sure the fetus necessarily comes into play.

Are you just running around nit picking people’s posts on principle or do you actually take issue with not putting full shackles on a woman who has just had a c-section or is heavily pregnant (even if not actively laboring)?

My bad- waist or leg shackling a pregnant woman or someone recently post partum is also ridiculous. I feel it is equally ridiculous as putting full shackles on someone in labor. I thought that was pretty obvious from my post, but I guess I was vague.
