It makes me so happy to know that there is an “organization” in place that fights for the preservation of “near extinct car species”.
Raises another interesting question also; Is there a car model that was quite common in the past that there now isn't a single example left of because no one thought of preserving one for the future?
Lucky you! ;)
See my reply to MoCamino, apparently those mounts are junk.
Do you know of any good ones (cheap)? The cheapest one I can find is from MSD and cost like $500...
Yeah, I’ll yank out the 305 and lift this in fairly soon too see how far off I am at the moment. I saw that there does exist premade bbc mounts for this truck but after reading some reviews it seems like they’re a poor fit and need a ton of modification to work https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/clp-6372mp-bm
I’m thinking of going with intake, carb and new cam which should push it from 300 to around 450 hp. If I can keep the ignition that’s a plus since it’s pretty compact right now which will be good for later on. There also is the problem with the trans being electronically controlled so I guess I still need all of that…
Ahh that explains it, thanks!
Does that thing have a twin turbo setup?!
Quick!, better fill it up with car parts before she decides to park there then!
It certainly helps to have a bigger workspace but you’d be surprised how fast it fills up with one of these apart. I’ve basically had my garage, the garage’s attic and my cellar full of car parts for the last year or so.
Halfway there, so why stop now? Just start in the front and work your way back tearing it apart. Just make sure you have a good organized system for marking all the parts and this will be a piece of cake.
Nope, Aero version comes with the 2.0.
But how could it possibly be bad at only 40000 miles?? I'll try the O2 sensor first but if that doesn't work out I'll set my sights on the cat.
So win-win then?
“But the 2 litre turbo engine is supposed to be the one that doesn’t eat head gaskets”
Yeah it’s been sitting most of its life so it should look pretty good. Considering that I'm outside of US jurisdiction I doubt that this car would be covered by anything federal even if it was under 10 years.
2005, so I guess so?
Tried clearing it multiple times. It’s enough that I even *think* about the CEL and BAAM!, there it is again.
But according to the previous owner it was replaced just last year!
