I’ve wondered this as well, as I’m used to MZR engines that are just bored/stroked. I was surprised to learn of the proportional architecture on Miata.net (and from Dave!)

I think that’s what the JLTV was tested to as well, those numbers sound familiar.

Wait wait wait. UW’s remaining linemen are Marz and Voltz? Like... Mars... Volta... That’s like, trippy man.

Which radiator? It has about 10 of them.

Guy I work with used to be a powertrain engineer with Oshkosh, specifically on this JLTV. I think he said power was about 350/600, certainly down rated from the consumer trucks.

Eeuuhh Sew Fawnsehhh!

The auto in the new 3 was the best I’ve ever driven (admittedly I haven’t driven many newer autos). It was very predictable in Sport mode, usually in the correct gear on its own, and reasonable response time on manual shifts. One of the coolest things was that the throttle pedal had an extra “click” at the end of the

Yay for Oshkosh winning another bid. I’m local to the area and considered pursuing an engineering career there, but was warned of mismanagement and super demanding work schedules. Might not be the best company to work for, but contracts like this still bring in lots of jobs and income to the Fox Valley.

But you should definitely buy a used car with every available option, right? The first owner eats the depreciation, you enjoy the goodies. Both my ‘06 Mazda3 S GT and my wife’s ‘12 Focus Titanium have the “everything but the automatic” box ticked. No ragrats!

55% of orders are for the manual? As is 45% buy the automatic? Frankly, for Europe, that sounds pretty terrible. My guess it’s middle class nostalgic old fogies buying the GTs over there.

As much as I hate the song, Turn Down for What seems appropriate here.

I am also an engineer (electrical) and have this printed out and hanging in my cubicle. Next to my Car and Driver fold out cover of the new Ford GT ha.

I was just thinking the opposite as you in reading Andrew’s column: I live 10 miles from the nearest city. Bicycling to work ain’t gonna happen. If/when I get into motorcycles, I’ll start on my buddy’s manual four wheeler, then find a dirtbike to tool around on, then take a class.

Buddy of mine has two TDI Golfs. One slow as all hell stock auto, one mildly entertaining tuned manual.Collectively they’re nearing 700k miles. Besides the awful fit and finish of the interior, they ain’t bad.

Uhhh, not Mike. It’s Jake. You know, from State Farm.

This being a Tacoma, I bet they still sell an assload of them, and I bet they’re still “worth” $30k five years from now.

The owner put on 3500 miles in 3 years. If it was a good car, it would have been driven more. CP.

Veloster is a 4 door. Fact.

So I’ve been wondering something about these videos ever since they came out: who does the voice of Dougie’s mom? Please tell me it’s Hardigree.
