I didn’t mind Rip (because I love Arthur Darvill) but the Hawks and their vendetta with Vandal Savage really dragged the show down. I admit I also miss having Snart/Captain Cold on board too, because he was just delightful.

Well the driver for Slytherin is supposed to be “ambition” as the character’s primary trait, and ambition can lead one down the wrong path if you are not careful. That accounts for Slughorn. I can see him described as weaselly, but not really a coward. He hangs with the teachers and fights against Voldemort in the end.
There were some small attempts at showing the Houses to be full of different personality types, some good, some bad. Cedric Diggory was a Hufflepuff, but was by no means a slacker or obsessed with comfort, and he certainly didn’t have that “laid back” Hufflepuff attitude.
I could have watched an entire episode of nothing but him, from different universes, being interviewed by the team.
I mean, its just a nondescript bucket. Its not like it says “STOLEN GOLD LEAF” on the side.
He is easily as smart as the other Wells...but has no actual skills. He is that really smart guy we all know who has great ideas he can never follow through on because he has never actually taken the time to learn any useful skills, and just cons his way through life.
