That scene lacked the impact it had in the books. Halfhand deserved better!
To me, the primary focus was on the love story, which just dragged on and on. As someone else pointed out, Murakami's best work are his short stories. His novels just try to stretch out a few ideas that just are endless repetitions of one theme.
Throw in alienation.
It wasn't very good at all. I expected it to at least focus on themes that were in 1984 but it never got there. Most disappointing book of last year for me.
Thought she was pretty good in the Joan Jett biopic. But she is kind of half-asleep for most of SW and frankly, she's far less interesting than the Queen.
