The game isn’t controversial. The only people saying it is, and the only people wondering about law suits, seems to be game media types. No one involved with Pokemon cares because why on earth would they? And the game devs don’t care because they know Pokemon doesn’t care.

As a developer that went to art school, I find the AI future sort of terrifying and depressing. Both my own livelihood and that of my friends that stuck with art are existentially threatened.

It kind of feels like people are trying to will a lawsuit into existence because drama means clicks.

FF15 is probably a better game now in hindsight than it was when it came out. I remember it being quite distracting how very clearly unfinished it was (the last 10 hours of the game are you rushing past the pretty clearly uncomplete second continent in a train instead of exploring it, the grand city that’s both

I disagree on the principle that I didn’t even fully understand the plot and what was happening until years later when I got the big fancy FFXV special edition book that explains all of it. Almost every time a major plot beat happened I *thought* I understood it, until I didn’t because they barely explained anything. I

If you really lean into the road trip aspect, the game is beautiful. Being asked to choose a photo at the end of the game is genuinely heartbreaking when you realize what it means. The complicated relationship between Noctis and his father really hits home at the end as well.

I enjoyed this game but it did feel like something was lacking by the time I was finished. This scene didn’t hit as hard for me because something about it didn’t feel earned. It kind of goes from a goofy romp to dead serious without a lot of ramp-up.

Do I really need to elaborate that the vast majority of pirates couldn’t give less of a shit about preservation and are either trying to score a quick buck or are just someone who never grew past the anarchist/nihilist phase?

Yes, preservation.

Meanwhile, PC gaming ditched physical media 15 years ago and everything is just fine.

That’s not even a dig against kotaku or other gaming sites, people like OP honestly dont realize that these of us who pay attention to gaming news and such make up like, a *fraction* of the gaming audience. The overwhelming majority of people who played games just like...seeThe New Thing' on a walmart shelf and get

Even coming into this article I knew Kotaku wasn’t going to be too thrilled about this news. Hogwarts Legacy got overshadowed by TotK, BG3, Spider-Man 2 and Starfield in the news. But it was still critically acclaimed by critics and sold like candy.

He also told VGC that it would be an honor if fans of Foamstars and Splatoon eventually created a nickname for the odd genre.

It looks like someone just typed “Splatoon Fortnite ArtStation Shooter” into midjourney and this is what it spat out

I mean, don’t make a game that looks like a Splatoon copy if you don’t like the comparison. There’s no other game like Splatoon so its the bar. Honestly this makes what? The 3rd battle game that went limited free on release? Good luck.

AI art I don’t care. People reacting to it like a stupid child freak out about

If something uses AI art and it needs someone to expose it, it always massively impacts my experience... Where are we gonna meet tomorrow to smash the looms?

Scene: It’s December 2024, dozens of comments have been misread more than this one.

I play video games daily. Thank god and Satan, I am not a gamer.

Devs: Stop being toxic.

Well yes all the death threats and the like sis crazy out of proportion. And all that needs to stop.
