You can be correct but also know that it isn’t going to change much when it comes to what people want or like; especially in a situation like this.

In the end, some fans are going to fan, whether he is right, or not, and saying anything is just going to fan those flames even sooner. I’m sure he knew that when he said

I played all of these games, multiple times, and I never thought there was a whole lot of deviation. Sure, going from an isometric game to first person was weird, but nothing about Fallout 3 made me think, man, this is so different from Fallout 1 and 2.

So, now I’m curious. What is this deviation? Maybe I didn’t

True.

It just seems like given the climate, it could be predicted this would be interpreted as they said “screw the fans, I’m doing my own thing.” If I wanted people to watch my show or give it a chance, I guess I wouldn’t say anything about my personal interest in it.

It is a personal choice, though. He’s right, in

This is also true.

True.

Those things are at least “based” in reality, and people’s narratives on those things can and do affect other people’s lives, as opposed to relating entirely to a work of fiction.

I was speaking generally, but now I’m going to have to look.

So is making statements like that. Why say anything at all if you’re just trying to annoy people?

That being said, he’s not wrong, and fandoms/fans have made the media they consume not just a part of their life, but their whole identity. I would never want to work on an established fandom.

I’ve been playing games and have been into “geek” culture for 45 years now, and lately I feel like all the momentum made trying to prove that we’re all not weirdos with no social skills and promote the idea this stuff is fun and can be for everyone has been thrown into the toilet.

Now people want to be those weirdos

Maybe never playing Chrono Trigger paid off, because I loved how it was basically every RPG I played when I was a kid.
My problem was unlike 1990s me, I can no longer ignore all the tedious side quest stuff like colleting the damn rainbow conches, and I stopped playing it right at the end after a week of getting bored

It’s always on because it adds a fun element.

Until those mines clip through the ground and I can’t see them or my team mate just throws a turret down behind us.

I would love to be as excited for something, anything, as I was for Mario 3.

Scalpers will be eating well.

I know little about Belgians, but I hope Belgian nerds aren’t as awful as the nerds I’m used to seeing crawl out of the woodwork for things like this.

Well, shit.

My Twitter feed is infested with stories complaining about Sweet Baby. I don’t even know how or why because I use twitter for five minutes a day, maybe, and that’s only to follow VTubers and check out a few anime/video game artists’ stuff.

I honestly don’t know how much of this stuff (or anything really) is real

As others have pointed out, they probably see it as a failure because it will never again make them nearly as much money as it did in 2023. Chances are future sales will be middling, at best.

That pretty sums up how I feel.

Cold war or brand war?

What makes you think we’ll have a choice? It will be both.

Its hard to believe how that turned out.

I was never a Hank fan, but damn.

I try not to make predictions, but a fast food restaurant charging more at times when people are hungry and/or have time to eat sounds like a big mistake.

This is where I’ve been at this entire fucking time. I would actively discourage anybody working on anything to interact with any community at this point and go back to letting PR handle it. It is a liability and a safety hazard at this point.

I honestly can’t think of anything that has been made better by having
