Sure. there are absolutely no reasons why someone would want their name pronounced properly besides raging narcissism. glad you cracked the case.

It really depends on how you do it. I’ve seen people at meetings go “oh these ethnic names are so complicated how do I...” which is the wrong way to go about it. But I’ve also seen plenty of people say “hey, I want to make sure I’m getting your name right. Can you pronounce it for me?”

Correct. When I finished my masters degree, the dean of my program (who I had TAKEN A CLASS WITH) said my last name wrong as I was about to cross the stage. I told her I would not be crossing until she said it correctly because my family had traveled almost a thousand miles. Tons of professors came up to me afterwards

No. Generations of my Haitian family have been making rice in pots on the stovetop. It’s not hard and gives you that beautiful gratin on the bottom. Will not disgrace them by getting a rice cooker for no reason

I will never forget the masses of gawker commentors who accused the writers of that site for being homophobic for pointing out that singer is a fucking pedophile.

These testimonies are so hard to read as someone who has idolized Ellis since I was in high school. Transmet is literally why I walked into the high school news paper club and joined.

them dropping her in as Helena Wayne would be a fucking power move

yeah bruce having an extended family (of also billionaires) just always felt very strange to me

wait that dude is british? holy shit

could 100% see the EMH follow 7 out to Fenris to do some good

lmao yeah the more I thought about this the more and more the burger part of it just didn’t sit right with me

not out of the ordinary for restaurants in south philly. taqueria morales (of chef’s table fame) is in a super cramped space as well

I think I would forgo the burger bun and just go with a nice hunk of corn bread. Or some tortillas. And maybe replace the burger with shredded beef?

I don’t care about this sequel tv series but this?

gonna do a deep dive into this! I always just thought of it as “the flour gravy”

this is the big thing white people miss about how their all white social, academic and professional networks actively perpetuate harm

even wilder when you consider how much marvel stuff is filmed in atlanta!

1. black cartoon characters don’t actually represent real life black people

y’know, I once asked a jewish friend who was heading to rabbi school about this and his response was “well ancient people knew you could never really know who a kids dad is. but the mom? kind of hard to doubt that.”

I LOVED Wolverine & the X-men, thought it was such a well written, animated and grounded show.
