“weirdly cheap-looking” It had a bit of an Air Wolf vibe going on. Cheap and weak.

It doesn’t hook you out of the gate. The captain has a pathetic quality - especially in the first episode - that makes him very hard to like. But the characterizations balance out over the following episodes, and the engineer and the robot (who I can only recognize as Joel and Trace) are the best part of every

You’re all riled up like it’s Jessica’s picture day...

It was less egregiously face-palmingly awkward in the 2nd season. The cast had started to gel. But I think TNG took a bit longer to truly course-correct and ascend in quality than DS9 did.

The fact that these four plotlines all had relatively well-defined characters with well-defined arcs that still managed to keep their own flavour with certain nice inventive twists and resolve them all at the end while tying them neatly together in one big narrative arc and do it all in under 25 freakin’ minutes is

I’m so glad to see Evil Morty again, and to hear his theme song :)

It was Jeff B. Davis world-class Sam Elliot impression— good enough to fool captioners, or your money back!

This was probably my favorite episode of the entire series. Holy shit.

Other Space was good. Hey, networks, just pick up Other Space!

“One things for sure, you all don’t have to worry about Cowboy Morty talking. This little cowpoke’s going to mosey up on out of here.”

You must be from the Bizarro Universe because I ranked this episode as one of the best of the season. If this ep was that unappealing for you, you might need to move on to another show because I would LOVE to see more of this type of show building.

This. It’s as if somebody hasn’t watched the TNG pilot since it originally aired. The only remember the best of years of episodes.

And it’s not just the first season. Maybe we can make them watch all of the “Wesley saves the day” episodes for good measure.

I think I haven’t seen TV be as ambitious and pulling it off as successfully as this season since the third season of Community (maybe Legion).

Geez. Smell your own farts, much? It’s a cartoon with characters that have ants in theirs eyes and some that are named Mr. Poopy Butthole.

This might be the best episode of the show. I had to watch it twice just now. SUCH well done story telling

“This seems like a good time for a drink, and a cold, calculated speech with sinister overtones.”

Call me Noob Noob, because this episode had me like, “God... DAMN!!!’

the news team being all slightly more fucked up versions of the same Rick was a good gag.

Not closest thing we’re likely to see, but closest thing I’m likely to give a shit about.

Most of our “beloved” sci-fi/fantasy shows have a rough first episode/season before taking off. Remember how horrible the first episode/season of TNG was, for instance? If not, go back and watch it and let me know if you don’t cringe through the whole thing.
