I have, and regularly read the original comic run. The source material was good then, and it's good now.

I kind of figured that would be the case for this film. When the trailer first came out I was surprised that some of the humor was warm and clever and actually funny, but the Bayisms are inescapable. I don't know who the director is, but maybe if he was left alone it'd be the fun dumb action movie it's supposed to be.
