Vega could have been awesome; it wasn’t. Not out of GM’s culture at all. Lots of interesting tech and a clean-sheet concept production engineered by cost accountants and marketing specialists, sort of a malaise era Aztek. Of very few cars can it be said that the Chevette was an improvement.
