Actually going to their website now it appears the SE gives you a bunch of features it wasn’t originally available with...last I had checked when they got rid of the SEL trim level we were only left with mid-spec models. It appears that may have changed recently. 

Well no shit, they got rid of the TDI. Of course nobody wants the stripped-out base model Golfs that are missing all the features you can get on the GTI.

I love Porsches, but the speedsters have always looked really awkward to me. The proportions are weird, and they always end up looking like a regular 911 with a cover over the rear seats. I know that’s basically what they are, but I think the Boxster, as a 2 seater, is a better starting point.

Untrue. I can sit comfortably behind my 6'2" self in my 3 door MK6. It’s roomier than you would think. I’ve had 5 people in it comfortably.
