I believe Mr. Bellwood is from the UK, where “rammed” is often used to mean packed or crowded.
I thought it would be less obnoxious if they just had a layover at an airfield before the jump and processed everyone there.
I have it filed in the “this is a non-story” pile.
To be fair, they are just complying with EU regulations.
There is a remaining passenger (no cars) hover service to the Isle of Wight, and a museum of hovercraft on the mainland end of the crossing in Lee-on-Solent.
Sounds like a lot, sure, but even if you use worst-case numbers — let’s say that max consumption of 1000 gallons an hour — you’re really only talking about 2 gallons of fuel per person to move them (and their car) the 27 miles across the channel. So even at a cost of $10/gallon it’s $20 per person — Not outrageous.…
Fuck. We really do need a list or license to practise that cops oughta be on, and can be removed from. He’s probably still gonna get hired on a private security basis, or something, but it is still a massive step forward from America’s position; which would be to stick a medal on him probably.
I guess we should be greatful, with AV club gone, Quartz being entirely sponsored content, The Root peremptorily disabling comments because they publish exclusively bad takes, and Kotaku turning off comments because their EiC is a loon, Jalopnik is the last one of these things where we CAN talk about how bad the…
If you’re in the UK, book a narrow boat tour for damn sure. Try to also see the engineering triumph known as the Standedge Tunnel if you’re in the Manchester area.
““And everybody knows what’s going on in this country with fentanyl and child trafficking and rape. Terrible stuff.””
Ah yes, those child traffickers who famously return children to their homes safely.
Conservatives have gotten their base to vote against their own interests by demonizing education and literacy.
Its interesting that most of my family are registered Republicans including my Dad. But he and a bunch of the others stopped voting for Republican presidential candidates as soon as Trump became the nominee in 2016. And for them its mind-boggling.
Then the slack-jawed rubes would believe yet another conspiracy theory about how baby-killing libs plotted with Deep State McDonald’s to mix tiny killer robots into his ranch dressing.
Just yelling in to the void. But man, this shit is getting real. As in- there are many indications that this fat fuck could win the election. And if he does- we are all fucked. At this point its clear the Supreme Court will side with whatever he does each and every time. There is seemingly somehow nobody or no law…
Yes, it was the first year with the dual clutch transmission. First clutch went out within 8 months, replaced without hesitation by Ford. Second went out before 16 months, Ford refused to replace.
I was brought up in a Ford family. Every vehicle we had from 1989 (Ford Bronco) until I left for college (2001 Ford Winstar) had the blue oval. My first car was a 1996 Taurus, then I got into a 2002 Escort ZX2 (I miss the hell out of that little manual).
Not available in USA / Canada. :-)
The government didn’t mandate that Ford kill off all of its affordable offerings. Ford was simply following the cynical “build less, charge more” pricing model that a number of car manufacturers thought they could get away with in the wake of pandemic supply chain issues.
wait, why the fuck do they have arms on each other’s shoulders? THEY ARE FUCKING OUTSIDE, they are not breaching any building. They literally see the poor guy in front of them.
