The concept that an action can be *intended* to be joke AND still be sexual assault will just never compute for many folks.

I also thought it was funny that the articles calls Starfield “hard sci-fi” and then in the next section mentions “mystical artifacts that light up and move in magical ways” which by the article’s own definition is not hard sci-fi. This is a great example of why micro-labeling things is stupid and pointless.

that whole section about the tiresome gatekeeping about what hard sf is was totally unnecessary because after everyone has an opinion on what hard is and because it has been the sf nerds equivalent discourse of hardcore vs casual gamer. This is a modern space opera by definition, and saying that social science fiction…

When the Disney lawyers opposing you are the good guys in the story, you know you done fucked up.
