I have a theory that the end of democracy is when the rich buy all of the news media (radio, print, TV, and major internet sites), turn off the comments, and fire all writers who don’t tow the line. Then we have the same culture as Russia, China, and the Middle East.

This is awesome. Some day in the future, humans may actually be able to see out of Camaros.

Pray tell, What gender does a car have and how is it confused?

Not perfect, but better than 80 percent of new car designs in my opinion.

I think you forgot that collective bargaining is the deal that the capitalists made with the working people so that the working people would stop dynamiting them in their mansions in the middle of the night.

“And I’m pretty certain the time will come again pretty soon when everyone will want a small car that was easy on gas.”

You are absolutely correct. Why is everyone so snotty anytime there’s an “I fucked up; what’s the least painful way to fix this” question?

I work in one of those factories. The constant threat of voting in a union is the only thing that keeps management honest. None the less, our raises don’t keep up with inflation and our benefits continue to decline.

Not a huge fan of the UAW in particular, having spent 20 years in the auto industry. I do not agree with everything they stand for, and it is deplorable that the union officials are living large off the backs of their constituents.

Also, bees! </obligatory>

That’s an easy cop-out of yours, labelling what I suggested as communism. Communism is a centralized apparatshik that decides what people can and cannot do, quite the opposite of what I said earlier. I’ve not been advocating for authoritarian societal structures, flat hierarchies is the opposite of that.

And don’t come

Alanis, I really think the “blah” you talk about is entirely in the mind of the beholder. Cadillac’s cars aren’t just decent, they are really good. Jalopnik, for example, agreed with the rest of the auto media that the ATS was as good as the 3 series. And they look really good (yes, that’s subjective, of course, but

I went out of my way to buy a 2018 GTI SE because it had tartan and the 2019 SE which was at most dealers had been “upgraded” (I call BS) to leather.

I like that they are doing cloth seats. Because all hot-hatches should have the option of manual transmission and cloth seats (preferably plaid).

Every billionaire represents the failure of capitalism

Shareholder value is not at odds with other stakeholders

You are absolutely correct here. I was not trying to imply that the IMF or any of this aid is actually meant to benefit the masses. I just wanted to point out that one of the tools the imperialists use to give the appearance of a stable economy has been used and it failed. Just as a contrast to the VZ situation.
