Kylo Ren says specifically she’s ‘untrained’, though.

I didn’t overly care for Carrie Fisher in the movie. But I thought the best thing about the whole thing was Hamill’s appearance at the end.

Alternatively, Rey used her mechanical skills to trigger a fake alert and lead them off in the wrong direction?

Because nobody wants to see Harrison Ford’s ageing Han Solo shtick for three movies? I don’t anyway.

Leia knew, both from what Han had told her about Rey and from her own Force sensitivity, that Rey and Han had forged a connection. Rey is standing there looking devastated (the only one). It’s a shared moment of mourning for Han Solo between these two women who were close to him - and a great Leia moment as she puts

‘They drain the whole sun to arm the weapon???? If they drain the whole sun to fire it, how do they fire if more than once????’

He’s had a couple of hours with Obi-Wan on the Falcon in ANH - and he knows that he can use the Force/is aware of the concept and how to channel it, I guess.

There’s already a known next generation Skywalker in the films - Kylo Ren.

Yes this is correct.

‘In a flashback, we see young Rey being placed on Jakku by someone with a sinister voice.’ - Do we? As far as I recall, the ‘voice’ that’s heard is the person holding her arm on Jakku - that weirdo alien who looks like a Sontaran (I can’t remember his name, but it sounds like Kerplunk) - who says something like ‘Come

Your ideas intrigue me, and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

I haven’t as yet had that feeling, but I can guarantee it’s going to arrive by 2pm on Christmas Day if not sooner.

Thank you. I think I can say without fear of spoilers that I’m trying to deal with things more like Rey and less like Kylo Ren ...

Twice, and I’m going again tomorrow.

Yes, fair point.

IMO, Leia didn’t go for two reasons. Firstly, she’s obviously the leader of the Resistance. She has responsibilities. Secondly, because she knew - as Luke’s sister, a skilled diplomat and a Force user if not Jedi - that it wasn’t going to do any good. If whatever exactly happened with Kylo Ren was awful enough to

Leia didn’t tell Rey that - it was Maz Kanata.

On rewatching the film today, I am more convinced than ever that (a) Rey isn’t Luke’s daughter and (b) it would suck if she was. Apart from anything else, Rey’s non-Skywalkeriness would set up a good quasi-sibling rivalry dynamic between her and Ren - she’s the child Han and Leia should have had, who fits perfectly

‘Oddly, she also understands droid code, first organic character I’ve seen with that ability.’

I’ve clearly expressed myself badly.
