He (and his defenders in that piece) really seem to believe that his intentions matter more here than their effect on the victims. And they just . . . don’t. If you’re a man in the 21st century kissing women at work, it’s not their job to figure out whether that’s because you’re a lech or a socially awkward dork. If

The defense of him in this piece was sooooo paltry. Oh, he’s just awkward. Oh, that’s just his humor. Oh, it’s just an “asshole” “character,” that’s not how he “really” is. It’s just show business! It’s just politics! I’m just a touchy-feely guy! He’s just a hugger!

And that’s it, isn’t it? Excuses excuses excuses.

Franken received all the due process he was entitled to, and if he didn’t, that is his own fault and no one else’s.

I am not an Anna Wintour fan, but this is epic level shade. She doesn’t even mention Melania, all she talks about is Michelle Obama and her style. To me, that’s worse than if Anna called Melania a tasteless harpy.

The Canadian government has already apologized for Bryan Adams on several occasions......

I think a lot of it comes from the fact that he was studying to enter the priesthood. I think he saw that organized religion has a place with everyone and he wanted to share the best parts of it without hitting anyone over the head with theology.

Love one another. Treat people with respect. Be kind. Treat animals like

HELLO, HOW DARE YOU DISMISS WHITE MEN UNDER THE AGE OF 40 WHO ALSO THINK GUITAR SONGS ABOUT THEIR SPECIFIC SITUATIONS AND FEELING ARE REQUIRED AND RELEVANT. WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED. THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY TED(X) TALK.

My 4 year old came and hugged me as I watched this. And all I could say to her was that it’d made me sad because I missed him. He was a light of positivity and love that we sorely need right now.

His name should never be written without a parenthesis that says (No, not the Canadian singer. That’s Bryan Adams)

why do some white men over 40 think guitar songs about their specific situations and feelings are more relevant and required by society than literally anything else

I think it’s because he made us feel like we were all his friends, and that we were all important. We weren’t watching some rando person on TV entertain us. This was someone who loved and cared for us.

What we really need is like a sociological study on how a certain generation (apparently those of us commenting on this story) feels an intense attachment to Mr. Rogers. It’s different than Sesame Street or Barney or whatever the other shows are kids watched. Blues Clues? The lady with the lamb puppet? But it is a

She’s using her natural gifts for the greater good here :)  I listened to the audio and died when the interviewer asked if she would help T with his sartorial issues and she said, “I think he is unlikely to call”.    She avoided even referencing the names of the current first family.  It’s truly masterful.

I completely understand your point. But this world can always use, if not outright need, as much Fred Rogers as possible.

Seriously, why am I crying?!

Just because Michelle has money and designers doesn’t mean she wasn’t involved in choosing what she wore or who made those pieces, which is where her influence comes in and her taste shows. Melania, I’m sure, has designers and tailors and is still dressed like an embarrassment

“ I’m not seeing Hanks disappear into the role so much as Hanks playing it.” Yes. I still gently sobbed at my desk, though.

Nah. If there was lingering beef, they would have made her stand far away from George in the wedding photos for Princess Eugenie if not banned her from being included altogether.

Prince George and I have the same birthday! I was super stoked about this, thinking my birthday would be like a holiday in the UK when he takes the throne, until I realized that since I’m the same age as his parents, I will very likely be dead by the time this happens. :-(

Still- enjoy the day, royal birthday buddy!
