I’m sorry for your loss. Also, I have heard from a local, suicide prevention crisis worker that the center she works at had been getting emails from people saying that they were not prepared for the suicide in A Star is Born.

I think the warning system can and should be better calibrated, in general. For example, a “graphic sexual content” warning does me absolutely no good, because enthusiastic sex between two consenting partners, which is displayed without a sense of pearl-clutching prudishness is given that label, while a violent rape…
Here’s my two cents: I’ve lost someone in my immediate family to suicide. It happened nearly years ago. I still can’t stand ‘jokes’ about it on tv/movies, and I hate being caught unaware by it in tv/movies, especially if it’s one advertised as a non-drama (I’m looking at you, The Artist). I pretty much always have to…
I also used to read Perez at least daily. I wish I could remember what it was precisely that turned me off. Just happy I did stop. Yick.
It’s funny that you posted this. I had sudden realization a few weeks ago that I hadn’t clicked on “The Superficial” in maybe a decade when I used to visit is daily after I realized how fucking gross and cruel Perez Hilton was/is
I wish closed captioning worked on this song, because I’m having a helluva time understanding what she’s saying for 75% of it.
You’re welcome! It sometimes makes me want to pull my hair out, the way that Jezebel’s news-aggregation posts never seem to go beyond the most cursory details and often fail to clarify out-of-context quotations, as though the blogger on duty didn’t bother to read all the way through the sources they linked to. So if…
Other than “juvenile delinquency” and “early behavior problems”
She rode the Latin wave and a completely nonsensical just-this-side-of-minstrelsy accent to mad money and a hot hubby.
Jesus, I am so, so sorry for your loss and that you had to put up with that from your husband. I’m not trying to cast aspersions on his character, but he should have known it wasn’t about him and you needed him during that incredibly painful time in your life. I hope things are better (or getting there) for you <3
Have you seen 21 Jump Street? The man is hilarious.
Thank god. Every time he talked about her, it was always to sexualize her. He even joked about switching out her birth control pills with Tic Tacs so she wouldn’t leave him. He was happy to be with the hot chick and she probably thought his creepy, stalker behavior was cute at first. Thank God she woke up.
Including that quote in this roundup is deliberately misleading and undermines the reporting on the whole. Bad move, Jez. Link to the article there (that Jez included) and you’ll see what he actually was saying:
The Deney Terrio case.....the audience is laughing at him. I know it was decades ago and US audiences at that time were still finding the idea of gay people HILARIOUS, but i just feel so sad for him :(
And what about Rob Lowe, who said the ensuing scandal from an incident in which he recorded sex with what turned out to be a 16-year-old girl “the best thing that ever happened to me”?
Biff in DOAS worhsips his father and thinks he’s the embodiment of the American dream - great salesman, charming family man etc. In fact, his father (who is slowly losing his mind) is a failing businessman and sleazeball. This knowledge crushes Biff.
“...abusers often come off as good people to the people who aren’t being harassed by them.”
Yeah, out of context, it would sound super deep.
Dude has a type, though: fairly boring actors with famous parents.
Well, of course he doesn’t, there isn’t a wine in the world that pairs well with burnt steak and ketchup.
