At a certain point it's impossible to separate fashion from body shape, but saying that people need to dress for their body shape isn't saying that there is anything wrong with their bodies — it's that certain bodies will be flattered by certain cuts, fabrics, etc. As far as that particular dress goes, I don't think

To me, fit refers to the way the garment hangs on the body — the lack of fit isn't the body's fault. Regarding Lena Dunham's dress, I think the fabric is gorgeous, but the fit was off because it came up too high on her chest and kind of hung on her body in a shapeless way. The dress needed a more defined waist

Agreed. And Lena Dunham's dress didn't work not because of her body size, but because the dress itself needed structure, didn't fit, and the proportions were all off.

Amazing dress on her. Love the color and the neckline. She looks beautiful.

What is going on north of her neck?? That hair is godawful. Is that a wig? And the yellow is all wrong for her coloring.

Thank you! I keep seeing this on "best" lists and I don't get it at all. To quote Tom and Lorenzo, don't wear a "look at my tits" dress when you don't have the goods to back it up. Plus the color is way too pale and her hair looks like she's heading to a PTA meeting in Peoria.

Same here. I tried with War and Peace, I really did. Couldn't get past the first chapter.

Orwell's focus on the importance of language and how it influences thought processes is something that I still think about. Loved that book (though it freaked me out a bit).

I actually loved Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice (P&P is my favorite book ever). I read Catcher in the Rye but hated it. 1984 freaked me out. I tried to read War & Peace, but couldn't get through the first chapter.

"by definition it is not a small amount of money"?? Where is this definition? To some $3000 is dresser change. To others, it's a lot of money. $3000 for a summer in the Hamptons for someone working in finance in New York is cheap, in my book.

She has no wrinkles because she has had a shit-ton of plastic surgery. Don't despair.

that is so fucking disturbing, and I'm not one to freak out easily.

I know! I want one!!

Watching it last night, I felt the way I felt the first few days that John Oliver hosted. It was weird.

The fact that Valerie Harper is going to be on makes me choke up. I will watch just for her. Dance on, Rhoda!

I married someone who isn't American (and had the wedding outside of the United States, and had to go through the whole green card process), and I have no idea what you're so upset about.

Call me when there are 7 different versions of "Weddings! CTFD!" to counteract the repeat showings of "Say Yes to the Dress" and "Bridezillas" and all the other crap out there feeding the wedding-industrial complex.

I disagree. Mainstream acceptance of equal rights for a minority group will only come when the *majority* pushes for it as well. To me, a straight man (or woman) getting recognition for writing music about LGBTQ issues is an essential part of ensuring the movement progresses, and it reveals a HUGE positive about

The song was hugely influential in the campaign to get Washington's gay marriage proposition passed, so I think what he had to say was incredibly relevant.
