“For now The Last Spell is a pleasant surprise I wasn’t expecting.”
I always fall back on this when people make Joel the unequivocal hero who “saved Ellie from child murderers to whom she never would have consented dying for”:
I think their point is more so that Ellie is even more of a victim, not the Fireflies are the heroes here.
Marlene’s explanation of Ellie’s ‘gift’ is that within her is something that makes the fungus think she is one of them, but this isn’t true: she’s been attacked multiple times by zombies. Either she’s lying to Joel for whatever reason or her information is bad, I’m not certain.
I don’t really understand the anti-Joel aspect that people have (though didn’t play the game):
1) what certainty do we have that the Fireflies would be able to extract ‘the cure’ from Ellie successfully? What certainty do we have that ‘the cure’ would even work as intended if successfully extracted? Yes, Joel…
Gonna be honest, this is a pretty wild read that makes me think the division caused by the ending will not be mitigated at all. Because to me, I was thinking during the finale: “Wow Joel comes off even worse here than in the game.” Especially because the show, for the most part, has avoided Joel being depicted as a…
I don’t know, man. Mario Kart 8 is an almost 10 year old game. Can’t we just let Waluigi have this one? The guy doesn’t get much.
Joel could’ve announced himself before reaching to hold her from behind - what if she was still holding that cleaver???
All religions are made up.
Whether or not their based on reality is a different argument.
Agreed on the latter, my worry for the episode was that Joel was going to come in and save her from the evil preacher, when part of the whole point of this arc is Elle having to protect herself without Joel there.
Ellie manages to reach a cleaver and deal multiple killing blows
It’s honestly not that hard.
Sounds like normal twitter discourse to me. Twitter is a dumpster fire. No reason to quit.
If you’re going to accuse me of takes on a post labelled “News,” you should at least try to gender me correctly.
It wasn’t a TERF flaseflag, it was terminally online Twitter users
This right here is the problem. No one is winning or losing, that’s not how it works. This is a group of people boycotting someone’s work because they don’t support the creator’s positions.
Is there actual bullying? I wouldn’t know. I do know that every example I’ve seen has been a polite request for people not to play the game and the response to that polite request can get so outsized and overwrought that people just assume bullying is secretly happening because they think no one could be that…
I mean i understand ‘if you even think of buying this game, you are not my friend, you are not an ally’. Its literally finding the most well known anti trans advocate on the planet, while simultaneously being literally just a game you can absolutely do without. The logic goes “if you can’t do this one very easy thing ,…
You are absolutely vile.
Yah honestly I don't get the hand-wringing from ppl who really want to think of themselves as supportive allies but apparently the thought of not playing the mediocre wizard game and giving JK rowling more attention and money is just too much to bear for them. Play the game if you want but ppl have a right to be…
