The State Highway Patrol and the Vehicle Safety Council where I live would disagree. They refer to them as crashes, but hey, call them you want. Have a good crash free weekend.

Certainly people should pay attention. But most car-pedestrian accidents aren’t because someone stepped in front of a car that didn’t have time to stop.

And how about drivers look up from their cell phones long enough to notice that there are pedestrians in marked crosswalks that they have a legal obligation to stop for?

Interestingly enough, I just took my first old person defensive driving course and the instructor was very adamant that we just stop using the word “accident” entirely and call it what it is, a “crash”.
