i keep the boxes for expensive things that i'll sell one day and also because once they get older cutting up the box makes great vintage framed art.

@Celladore: i used to block ads but then i realized that i was essentially stealing from all of the websites i visit often i decided to support my content creators and deal with the banners.

For me and a lot of people gadgets are the same as cars, it's a status symbol. the person driving the $100,000 car gets everywhere just the same as everyone else, but with more style. just like a 60" wall mounted 1" thick led tv accomplishes the same task as a 60" DLP tv sitting on the floor. but one has a lot more

as much as a i loved firefox for very long time but chrome has one killer feature; each tab being treated as a separate process. this lets me move tabs between windows and spawn new windows without having to reload the page, a massive timesaver because i have dual monitors and always have several chrome windows open

if you've got a gaming machine you can run a game as well as some widgets and keep Facebook open in the background; but this is for people gaming on laptops or lower end computers where every clock cycle counts.

i'm usually really good about all of these until i got to the last one, i never knew that "for all intensive purposes" was wrong. it's going to take a long time to break that habit.

@Parsifal: i have it too and i love that i can connect multiple controllers, so my friends and i can play emulators without crowding around one keyboard.

i picked up a xbox 360 wireless usb adapter for about $5 when circuit city went out of business. i love it because it lets me connect all 4 wireless controllers to my computer so my friends can all play my old n64 and gamecube games on emulators with our own controllers.

for me it all comes down to price, an iPod touch and a virgin mobile mifi are more expensive than an iPhone in the beginning but having to pay about $40 a month for data and about $10 a month for basic phone service w/ tracfone is almost half the monthly price of an iPhone plan. and i get tethering :P

@calzonegolem: Me too, but i have a 160gb classic and an 8gb itouch for apps and games. it's quite disappointing that apple's flagship iPod still can't compete against my 4 year old iPod classic.

i love this room and it belongs in a design catalog but my only gripe is the computer in the closet. it seems like you wouldn't get enough fresh air to keep it cool.

@Ninja_peach: i totally agree, my 24" and 22" monitors as well as the tower that powers them gets my room to a balmy 84, the thermostat is set to 77. and yes i have a fan and i use it almost every day.

i don't like to think of screen space in terms of pixels but in terms of how many open windows you can have comfortably opened. on my 1920x1200 primary monitor i can have two windows comfortably open side by side using windows aero snap. since my 1920x1080 secondary monitor has the same horizontal resolution i can

i think it's time to live out my dream of seeing every major city in the world in just under a month.

I really want to love open office and Google docs but once you have been professionally trained in office you can't use any of the alternatives without getting hung up on their shortcomings.

@damis648: i would love kon-boot but the only system it seems to work on is my own, it never works for anyone else.

@bushasp: i agree fully. i have tried to ditch my watch but it's just too convenient to live without.

we have been able to do this for years for keypad locks. usually 4 keys had more ware than the others so it only takes a few minutes to brute force the possible combos.

@dragonskin: that's horrible, i get faster speed than that on my broadband card (~3mbs) and here is our home connection, no fiber, just cable internet.

that's great but it wouldn't work with me for a few reasons; First off you need to get a solution to make the remotes work for all of those boxes. no line of sight means no IR remotes. the second is cooling; in my personal experience we couldn't stack things on top of the direct TV box or else it would overheat, i
