@stevenjchang: i hate the ipod eq and all of the home theaters that try to use presets, i just do a custom eq with a graphic equalizer. for that i use my creative x-fi sound card, it's worlds above the built in sound card and unlike the itunes eq it doesn't distort as easily.

i still think a good EQ job goes a long way. I've let people listen to my $20 sony MDR-V150s with and without my EQ and even non-audiophiles say it's like night and day.

@McGoogle: it worked but when i loaded up cpuz it cycled between about 5 multipliers and i just tried all of them and one worked.

@johnnytsmitw: i put an ipad in the same category that i have my netbook in now. it's a supplement for your full computer. i'm not in college yet but i use my netbook all day for notetaking and casual web browsing and then go home to a desktop where i can crank out papers and use all of those notes. my only issue is

@McGoogles: i have that same problem and @STDFR33 your fix doesn't seem to fix it

I'm not sure what's wrong, i just get this screen every time i load the vm

I've been using this tip for a while, i have a usb hub in my monitor and so that allows my to both keep my wireless dongles close to my mouse and keyboard but they can't be seen behind my monitor so i keep a clean desk.

@Sarcastic Steve: i originally had this fear but with dropbox all of your files are stored locally on your machine also. so if the internet explodes you can still use them.

i use dropbox now for all of my documents and bringing them to school but i still have a usb drive for portable apps.

@moe52: yup @priper, the only diagnostic tool for macs is a hard stack of cash and a trip to the local apple store.

@gibson_se: i have a desk similar to his but from Ikea and although i know this post isn't entirely serious a desk under the bed is much more practical because i leave my desk a couple time a day as well as bring computers and books to and from it. on the other hand i only climb into my bed once a day and rarely bring

as much as a love open ear headphones and how they allegedly have higher sound quality if you keep your music at a reasonable level closed headphones feel like you are in a much bigger area and give true volume to the music you are listening to.

@Optimistic Prime: they are not very different from a functionality standpoint but having used both of them on the same computer windows 7 is vastly better than windows vista. Vista was buggy and crashed frequently, even after the service pack. windows 7 is rock solid and actually increased the performance of my

@Møbius: you can use a more traditional taskbar setup in windows 7 if you uncheck the "use small icons" box under taskbar properties. [goo.gl]

@ydant: if you look in the last pic he has a mac pro driving the monitors.

i would use wireless n but my laptop, netbook, and ipod all only support wireless g.

@psychiccheese: Although that is true for overly large people the problem is when people that just have a little fat start exercising, they get discouraged that they aren't loosing any weight but forget that they did loose all of their fat.

as a person professionally trained to use autodesk revit (home design software) this software has 95% of the functionality and is a ton quicker and easier to use. if it could export production grade blueprints i would use it exclusively.

The problem with this is that there are many more windows users than mac users, so there are many more windows viruses than there are mac viruses. so i always hear mac people bragging about how they never get a virus and i must remind them that that doesn't make them more secure.

@Lord_Data: i have had my laptop for over 4 years. i really don't think that the minor increase in specs will matter if you plan to keep it through college.
