Honestly the guy was always unbearable, but 2020 has been too much. We used to get into mostly diplomatic debates on subjects. Now though, gloves are off. When he started going on about black people and minorities once the protests started, I reminded him that my wife was black and I’m a minority of mixed descent and

So... I am pretty used to his wild, incoherent rants at this point, but this one still made my top 5...

I’m very interested to see how all this plays out...because what happens if the court sides with the protesters (and states) in saying they don’t want them there and that what they are doing is in fact illegal....and Trump just says “make me”.

Hashtag Never Forget.

Omg me tooooo! We lived 30 miles from the nearest town and of course I couldn’t drive or get a job until way later. No cable, no TV or radio. I just didn’t do anything but draw and collect fence lizards for “friends”. I tell people to treat me like an exchange student because I don’t get any pop-culture references

i will vote for Uncle Joe but FUUUUCK.  He’s OK to call Trump a racist but how idiotic to call him the first racist President.  FUUUUUCK Joe, know your history or shut the fuck up.

Portlander checking in: I’m really happy that Ted showed his face last night and got a little bit of first hand experience with what’s going on in front of the Justice Center. It would have been great to see him out there 55 nights ago, but better late the never.

I was just reading a dust-up in my local NextDoor universe where some Trumper was arguing along similar lines. He talked about how schools should definitely reopen because the kids just shake off COVID and the death rate is falling, so science says everything’s just fine. But just tracking diagnosis rates and deaths

If anyone thinks Trump is now taking COVID-19 serious and that's why the convention was cancelled they're fooling themselves. He knew there would be another small crowd and didn't want to be embarrassed again.

I work with a right-wing nutbag who basically said he hoped Yoho did call her that. Naturally, he didn’t bother to listen to what AOC said in response. So I’m going to take this:

Rep. Yoho’s non -apology states that he cannot apologize for “his passion, loving my God, my family or my country.”

The offensive name-calling words attributed to me by the press were never spoken to my colleagues...

So when his daughter calls her mother a bitch but waits until mom has turned her back and doesn’t think she’ll hear it, then it’s ok. In my personal experience, this argument did not go over in my household when I was 16.

I have had a man who, instead of owning up to a mistake of his, proceded to harass and insult me personally, socially, and professionally, simply because I wouldn’t stand down from the fact that he did something wrong. (Long story, but what he did was against the law, and I called him on it) He took offense when I

“The offensive name-calling words attributed to me by the press were never spoken to my colleagues, and if they were construed that way, I apologize for the misunderstanding.”

She’s a better person that I am. If given a microphone in this situation I probably won’t be able to refrain from “who’s the bitch now, bitch?”.

Why is this not a bigger story? Why was an elected public official allowed to behave this way with (as-of-now) no repercussions? This kind of stuff wouldn’t even fly working at McDonald’s, so why is it allowed in Congress? Good for AOC for standing her ground and calling out this guy out for the coward that he is, but

Indeed.  Stripping away the power of their various non-apology playlists - “I have a black friend”, “I have daughters”, “Thoughts and Prayers”, “My God told me to do that” - is long overdue.

Apparently we white women are still having a hard time believing that our fellow white women can be anti-feminist and racist. I've popped into my local women's march Facebook group yesterday and today and I'm blown away by the number of white women who still think we're all on the same team and want the same things.
