I know Siskel loved a lot of kids films

I just saw the review of it from Roger Ebert, he really is surprisingly complimentary of it

ohh, i had no idea this was a love actually reference. I last remember it when Amy Adams hosted and Pete Davidson did it and I thought it was a homage to that sketch, silly me

I saw Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey bc I was thinking on the What non-2016 art did you discover, I could only say Bill and Ted's Excellent ADventure and not the comple package.

I'm pretty comfortable skipping it. I feel like it's not mandatory like the other Star Wars that tell the story. and there's plenty of other films out there

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was pretty strong out of the gate, but it didn't top itself in the second season. It didn't really directly go after the issues of S1 in some grand arcing story except a PTSD-related story arc but the show's always been a bit uneasy about exploring the full depths of what must have been

Papillon is definitely one of Dustin Hoffman's grittiest roles, it seems to curiously stand apart from time though

It's really really difficult to remember but:
1. I started learning about the life of David Bowie
2. I rewatched the film Sun Valley Serenade and got a little into Glenn Miller, I rediscovered Star Trek First Contact and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures and they sort of count because I was just a kid when I watched

Man in the High Castle premiered in 2014 or 2015 so it counts? hey since we're here and I just got Amazon Prime, can you tell me if it's attention-grabbing in the opening or a slow burn, also what's great about it

I feel like the Terriers detectives seem more and more generic as Peak TV shows us lots of people who look and act like them. I mean Shane Black can churn out scrappy detectives on the fringes of society in his sleep more memorable than those two guys. I do think Donal Logue is a very good actor, though

I too loved What's My Line, it gave us a nice real-world look at all sorts of movie stars from Eva Gardener to Paul Newman to Jack Palance to Joseph Cotton to Elizabeth Taylor all of whom had a natural ease on the show you might see in late night today (not on Fallon's show). Fred Astaire was disappointing on the show

also agree, I have no idea what the f Esther Z is talking about

since this is the oonly Gloria thread, what the heck is up with her accent?
oddly enough the only thing I know about Bernadette Peters is that before she became famous, Rachel Bloom had a youtube channel I followed which included a Bernadette Peters sex tape

if you read the book, in real life, there was a lot of connectedness and networking going on at the apartment complex where all the musicians lived. there was like an apartment complex where everyone was a world-class musician, so it seems true to the source material

I love that latin number that Rodrigo conducted in Mexico City while visiting his mentor, what was that?

who else has done documentary episodes? cant think of that many off the top of my head. hmmm…

If you're in DC please come to the cinema lounge tomorrow. Other AV Clubbers will be there!

I love the book "Dreams of Our Father" I especially like his grandparents. I wonder who pays them.

I've been to comet Ping Pong! Great friendly place! I should go support them sometime (last time I went was 2 weeks before the big incident)

Why does an orchestra need s tubas if it has string basses, I can see trombones adding a nice strong tenor sound but what does the tuba add?
