I always thought that the Slytherins mostly not fighting (or actually BEING supporters of Voldie) was because over the years since The Boy Lived, the house had increasingly been filled with actual awful people with actual terrible parents.

I think you’re missing the point regarding the perversion and infiltration of the Deatheaters, especially in the case of Slytherin house. Maybe once they did stand up for those causes, but in the era of the books they have become power hungry cowards. We also only know about the main characters, the named characters.

There are different types of bravery but Gryffindors excel in this area. They act on their heart’s desire without thinking about their own lives and very rarely thinking about the consequences. As a Ravenclaw, I would be thinking about the implications for each outcome as well as the likelihood of each outcome and

Oh, come on, that guy’s a teddy bear... Or at least he’s wearing a bear, which is a type of garment called Berserkr in Old Norse.

yeah, he’s got a mad eye moody vibe going on.

“Good morning, Professor Grimstav!”

“Mexican garden gnome”

Well, he clearly has all of those tattoos and weapons to DEFEND against the Dark Arts. He’s like the magical equivalent of Special Forces teaching you self defense. Dude’s going to look scary as hell.

Were you hoping the gnome was hispanic? Perhaps some black scandenavians or pacific islander redheads?

you know, that was actually my problem with the harry potter series, they rely a little much on books being judged by their cover. i was annoyed that in the final battle, all the gryffendores stayed, most hufflepuffs stayed to fight, fewer ravenclaws fought and very few slytherines fought. the whole book seemed to go

in scandinavia. in Hokkaido, id expect different.

That’s actually not a bad idea for a Final Exam. Obviously he wouldn’t use all his spells, he’d use what was taught, but you’d have to actually defend yourself.

Well, usually they’re hiding it, meanwhile Lupin at face value would be terrifying. He looks like a hobo, is more scarred than a war veteran, and every full moon he turns into a man-eater. Yet he’s the only DA teacher that didn’t turn out to be evil.

To be fair, it is Nordic, so it at least makes sense. It's just art, not an actual story.

Same here.

Ahh but you forget how thick the general movie going public can be. “Wait wait Alien is about sexual assault? Nah bruh you’re just reading too much into it. It’s just a movie!!”

Yeah. I remember clearly understanding that the characters clearly were lepers back when I first saw it as a dumb high-schooler in the late 90s, so it couldn’t have been that subtle. I’ve never heard it described as an ‘urban legend.’ That seems silly.

Wait, the fact they were lepers and discriminated against elsewhere was an urban legend? I thought that was a super obvious part of the story.
