That’s what stopped me doing it, I realized I just can’t make the break between my awareness of what I was doing and the act of actually doing it... I could feel myself observing and going “pfft” and eventually I decided that I’m not a good enough actor to unhook and go with the flow the way you need to to be properly…
Very thankless! I try to explain to people it’s like all the most horrible bits of being a salesperson and being a freelancer, with the added bonus that the product you’re selling is you, so when people don’t want the product... ouch. And that’s not even touching the part where you do insane, sometimes heartbreaking,…
It’s difficult. It can be boring and mindfucky and hypocritical and all sorts of other things too, but it’s also very difficult to do well, like these people do.
I was not aware that Oliver Mellors was a hereditary title. Hunh.
It means something horrible about me that I only know 10, but knew 10 instantly, doesn’t it?
Yep - from what I recall at the time, it was an emergency hearing based on supposed visitation violation, with a judge who was not familiar with the case, and all done before a holiday weekend in a really shady manner. The fact that the ruling was almost instantly stayed the next Monday is pretty relevant here.
Interesting! I wasn’t able to untangle that bit of the order, but always wondered why Kelly’s side hadn’t instantly hauled him into court when that visa-application date was missed. That explains a lot.
The May 2015 thing wasn’t about his visa, it was about supposedly violating the custody order and not letting her see the kids unless she handed over their US passports. And it was quickly stayed in California when an appeals judge realized that the Monaco court had jurisdiction. (The timeline above implies that Kelly…
So this is wrong:
As far as I know, your facts are correct. The one missing element is that in the 2012 ruling there was a mechanism to appoint a neutral party to monitor this visa-application process, with a timeline to adhere to. So the court anticipated this situation, and I assume are ready to deal with it not being followed.
You need the next paragraph of that 2011 incident with Lawyer Rich (line 14 onward). The part where he’s attempting to BLACKMAIL the father into signing away rights to the kids in exchange for not reporting him to the State Department for “kidnapping”:
I’m pretty sure State does not comment publicly on visa revocation issues. At all.
He’s an EU citizen, and he and the kids initially moved to France to live near his mother. In the years since, he’s moved to Monaco (which has an agreement with the EU) with the kids.
Fall 2012 cancellation, if I’m recalling court docs correctly. That said, I think she comment about Kelly’s work schedule was actually pre-everything, when she was trying to move to NY with the kids and he was still legal in CA. I don’t know enough about the background there to make sense of it, or whether it was a…
Dan Abrams should be run out of town on a rail.
Yeah, but we’re talking about trademark, not patent. He had 5 years from 2000 to develop it, but in 2004 started hearing about Gmail.
Bobby, it’s also worth nothing that the judge that granted temp custody to Kelly was stayed three days later. The way you’ve written it now it looks like that custody order held.
Bizarre, isn’t it, when you compare it to what we see in the media. I’ve just watched ABC cover it as a heartbreaking case for the mother - no mention of Hague Convention, no mention of anything remotely reflecting reality.
The show was cancelled in 2012, which threw everything off. Was the statement before or after his visa was revoked? That would make a difference.
