Re: Highlander: Y’know, it never seems to go well when people go “deeper into the lore.” We didn’t love the first Highlander for the lore. We didn’t love Ghostbusters because of the lore. Star Wars, even, barely had any lore and the deeper we go into it, the less satisfying it gets.
During his recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Henry Cavill stated the upcoming Highlander reboot will go “even deeper” into the series’ “lore” than the original...
Looks like someone discovered that the right-wing media bubble didn’t pay as well as she’d hoped.
You know what Jack Burton always says in a time like this? Nothing... because they never mentioned Big Trouble in Little China. :(
The one where we find out which writers are sexist twats.
The fuck is this article?
Don’t think of it as modifying, think of it as zooming in on one model so they both line up.
Guh, I’m still pissed off about the Mondo acquisition. It wasn’t just that a larger company, known for churning-out tons of low quality collectibles, bought-out a smaller brand with a reputation for selling high quality, limited run collectibles. It’s that within two days of the acquisition, Funko announced that Mondo…
I’m curious to see if Marvel add a building leaping , landlord bashing Superman and a similarly early era versions of Batman and Wonder Woman to their lines when they go out of copyright . On the one hand the old Distinguished Competition used to play fair with the Marvellous Rivals back in the old days ..on the…
OG Superman is pretty great, though. One of the few things the New52 reboot did right was bringing back working class Superman who fought for immigrant and labor rights.
I’m looking forward to that Superman getting a lot of traction in the public imagination.
I don’t know if there will ever be universal hype and anticipation for any movie ever again like there was for these. I was in my late teens at the time, and it was everywhere. It was a shared fervor unlike anything I’ve seen since. People waited days in line to see the trailer for these movies. It was a crazy time,…
I always felt that the biggest problem with the sequel trilogy was that each movie felt like it was restarting the story from the beginning instead of building on what came before it so it never winds up going anywhere.
I wouldn’t even go so far as to say they sucked. Ep 7 was pretty well loved across the board with the only real nitpick being the plot beats are a new hope just with much better pacing (yeah I said it. The pacing in a new hope has always been terrible nostalgia be damned.) Ep 8 is very divisive but that also means a…
I don’t think the obscurity of the character alone is the problem - you can make a good movie out of pretty much any obscure source. Sony themselves made bank out of an obscure Marvel comics called Men in Black.
I think this one has good odds.
The same internal logic that broke with Palpatine’s resurrection would have broken harder with Padme’s. And you still would have had Palpatine breaking the third movie.
she looks great for having died during childbirth
In addition, the Joker was reunited with Harley Quinn!
This sort of estrangement is nothing new in Skywalker family. James Earl Jones and Carrie Fisher didn’t meet until the taping of a The Big Bang Theory episode they both appeared in.
