This sounds like they tried a Magic Minority trope?

If you’re not going to use an established comic book character’s established powers. Don’t use that character. End of story.
People worry too much about canonicity.
I’m one of those weirdos who actually thought Eternals was pretty good, or at least decent and pushing the edges of what the Marvel template could do. There were also bits of it that simply LOOKED much better than basically anything else in the Marvel portfolio. I would take a complicated semi-whiff like Eternals any…
I... honestly don’t care about fans. The Expanded Universe was mostly trash, it was literally, explicitly stated as not being canon and never being canon and having nothing to do with the movies, and now “fans” use it as a cudgel to attack better projects that are less ridiculous and more coherent.
She was talking about a documentary, not Star Wars. There were no actors.
A director stating they like making men uncomfortable in a franchise that has a fan base made of a majority of men is stupid.
Thank you! I had to get to a comment on like the third article I read about this today for someone to actually point out that she wasn’t talking about Star Wars, which is why I was initially confused.
Oh good christ, please stop patting yourself on the back, pretending you’ve solved it (or that you have any idea what’s going on). This snippet is her talking EIGHT YEARS AGO about a documentary that challenges assumptions of women, and showing a lot of oppression of women and their strength.
The expectations of Star Wars fans — the most impossible-to-please fandom in history, who will piss and moan and bitch to the high heavens no matter what happens — are the last and least considerations anybody should take into account when making a Star Wars film. Rise of Skywalker should have proved that already.
Or it’s fun to mock the tiny number of BBC bigots obsessed with a teen girl’s naughty bits, refreshing to see that they’re losing, and amusing to see the BBC actually not be terrible for once after years of fomenting anti-trans bigotry in their reporting.
I hope the bullies and bigots realize that their hatred and vitriol have backfired terribly on them and pushed many of us who used to be more neutral or apathetic about LGBTQ issues into wholehearted supporters of the community.
RTD>>>>>>>JKR
Would love to see the latter go up against BBC/Disney (who aren’t saints but they clearly had no issue with Doctor Who taking this on) Uncle Zazloff doesn’t care about you lady.
They could have just sent the message: #YourBigotryisYourProblemNotOurs. That’s what I would have done anyway. #BeAnAlly
It’s always darkly amusing when transphobic bigots let the mask drop. They try so hard to pretend that they’re just concerned about the children and making sure that no one is rushing into transitioning but at the end of the day what they really want is for trans people to be erased from public life, one way or…
Wonka’s triumph is a bit more surprising.
The coolest thing he did in that movie that was 100% his was the opening credits, which he knocked out of the park.
Does anybody else notice that whenever anybody has praise for Zack Snyder, it’s almost always because of his talent for cinematography? You almost never hear filmmaker praising him for his well-developed characters, well-crafted stories or great dialogue. It’s almost always “He has his own cinematic language!” or…
“I’ve always believed Watchmen was ahead of its time,” he said. “The idea of a superhero team, which it so brilliantly subverts”
Thanks for that. I feel heard.
