As I thought Wonder Woman was indeed the best of the ones I’ve seen, and also massively overrated — its third act was atrocious and the rest didn’t age well — this list does not say a lot for the quality of the DCEU overall.

Absolutely agree. The ZS cut isn’t better, it’s just longer. Is some of the added material good? Sure. But that doesn't make a movie better overall. It's just a bad movie and nothing was going to save it.

Snyder's Justice League is not better than the theatrical cut. It's just more. The theatrical cut tried to take the various pieces of story that Snyder had created and pull hour a reasonable length movie. And it's a mess. The Snyder Cut tries to sort out the mess, but there's nothing there to save so it's just a

“it feels like we’ve lived with Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as the Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman for our entire lives”

1000 times this. There are ways to light dark scenes that work.

It’s only better in the way that having to clean up your dog’s solid shit is better than having to clean up their runny shit. Still stupid and the plot makes zero sense. All you get are more details in Luthor’s dumb plan.

The problem is that this is true of every Zack Snyder movie after 300. His theatrical cuts always lack coherence. As a director, if you have one or two movie where the director's cut is vastly better, eh, it happens. But when it's a pattern, it becomes a problem: either Snyder can't edit correctly, or he doesn't know

It’s less rooting FOR Disney. and more along the lines of rooting AGAINST desantis.

yep, in a fight between godzilla and ghidorah Im rooting for godzilla. better for it to just destroy tokyo instead of the whole world.

Same here. I’ll take Disney over Desantimonious any day.

But he’s Black Manta! Don’t cross the streams!!!

Recast and move on. Marvel spent the last few years of their narrative on building a Multiverse where anyone and anything can happen. Like, for example,  a movie where three different actors all play the same character and interact with each other.

Makes sense on the surface, but this would inevitably lead to a firestorm of enraged parents followed by advertisers pulling out.

I think the bigger mistake is that they then killed Ben Solo at the end of the movie. I think it would been a fascinating piece on the chess board of someone who came back from the darkside and has to reckon with with the terrible things he has done, whether it is in exile or something else.

nah the reylo team would have been fine if he had never redeemed etc. Please if anything y’all know how many out there like a morally bankrupted lead in the smutty books these days.

Same. The incels should have been ignored.

Luke grew up in what amounted to a pretty cozy middle-class household. Rey was basically the mature version of the boomerang kid from Road Warrior. I do not buy this Mary Sue bullshit.

all of this plus the idea of Rey being a self made hero born through terrible advisary with NO connections to the legacy characters. I call BS that Leia and Luke knew her heritage and wouldn’t tell her esp the latter.

sigh wish they just had Rian Johnson write and direct all 3 films. Jar Jar Abrams is not good at planning out complete stories and the studio/Lucasfilm story group should have reigned him in. Remember the, confirmed, original plot points where Anakin’s lightsaber was going to be a key? JJ has always been  a hack.

I always remember an old quote, which was to the effect that to George Lucas, Star Wars was a universe, whereas to Abrams, Star Wars was some movies he enjoyed when he was a kid.
