Christ that is incredibly.......petty by that author. Like amazingly.

That’s a shame, I really liked Pedro Pascal in WW84. In fact, I might be the only person who actually like WW84 at all. Great movie.

“I just don’t like anything which creates a lords and peasants kind of thing.”

“I disagree with the idea of billionaires.” - everyone else

“I disagree with the idea of unions,” Elon Musk said during a rambling onstage interview this week. “I just don’t like anything which creates a lords and peasants kind of thing.”

Disagree with Captain Marvel being a bad film, but I agree with the rest, especially the idea that it’s death by a thousand cuts. This is also why a lot of the hand-wringing about ”why this film?” falls flat because people tend to concentrate on the one factor that killed it.

Yep. Godzilla isn't a super hero, it's Jaws. The more you put Jaws into the movie, the more it loses its power to affect the audience. And with no human story as a through line, none of it matters anyway.

There’s a whole catalog of potential nasty villains and the one they go with is “evil Kong”?

Exactly! Unfortunately, it came out when Marvel was just starting to peak, and nobody had the attention span for it. I remember a lot of people being upset that there wasn’t enough action or Godzilla. And of course, because money, they catered to that crowd, and we ended up with the MCU (Monster Cinematic Universe aka

Godzilla 2014 knew that a monster movie is better if you build anticipation, hiding the monster from the audience to build tension for a single big scene at the end of the movie. That leaves time to build a story around a cast of human characters who can give some emotional depth to what is otherwise just an effects

Yeah, I get that, it just makes things a little less exciting.

I was just thinking about how the Hollywood Godzilla movies have nosedived into Transformers territory at speed (which, to be fair, is more or less the same trajectory the original movies took too) and then a giant robot hand erupted from the Pyramids of Giza.

Just as long as this one doesn’t have Balls and jive-talking stereotype autobots...

Devastator?”

The Marvels was, I think, poorly Marketed.

Except...The Marvels is good. Critics have been generally positive and audiences seem to like it, so it seems like if it’s not doing as well commercially there might be problems outside of the movie itself. If you want to pick on a movie, Ant-Man 3 was not good. Perhaps that movie left a bad enough taste in audiences’

I thoroughly enjoyed The Marvels and wish more of the current MCU felt like this one. Fun, light hearted, heartwarming , funny, with just a bit of seriousness, darkness, and edge.

That's from the Injustice series of fighting games. Not the upcoming game.

I mean.....the lead image looks kind of rough.....so.....probably.  Live-service or not.
