Of course it is. I love my ST but will be getting an RS. I would never even consider the Fiesta ST. Its too small and not fast enough. The Focus ST is a much more capable platform.

STI is 34.5k, Golf R is 36.5k. The Focus RS belongs below the "premium" VW, and you could argue it belongs above or below the STI (newer/nicer interior, but not as hardcore), but the Focus ST is under 25k so another 10k for AWD is steep.

If I had the scratch, I'd go RS just for Go Big Or Go Home bragging rights. However, the practical Papa in me needs something with a little less whiplash for the kiddies. So yeah, I'm looking for that WRX (via CarMax) .

Where's this $40k figure I keep seeing people talking about coming from? I've not seen any comment from Ford about pricing and I don't see why on Earth it'd get anywhere near $40k except with a fully optioned model. I'm expecting Ford to set their pricing around $34-35k so it's comparable to competitive models.
