You turds are why the Democratic party is a joke and will never regain power. Laws are not created by the executive branch, Congress is the branch that passes/enacts laws. Yell at congress, not Biden for abortion laws. Biden could be the reincarnation of George Washington with the dick of Abraham Lincoln and he still…
“The plan may have been announced on the anniversary of Roe, but it mentions the word abortion just once. If anything, instead of commemorating this anniversary, the announcement seems to be damage control for the news from Friday.”
No, it really doesn’t. It seems like an announcement that has long been planned to…
A development that no one saw coming except everyone.
He means that Dave Becky and Mike Berkowitz used their considerable leverage to logroll and quid-pro-quo their then-sole black client into any and every studio project by their “mainstream” clients and utilizing their considerable P.R. operations for him, making him familiar and palatable and giving him exposure and…
I basically turned into that Wee-Bey GIF watching the takedown of the Kings of Comedy, but I ride with anyone who triumphs Bernie Mac. I still miss that guy often.
While so many of his contemporaries (and a lot of the folks he talked about here) are still whining about “cancel culture,” Katt had this absolutely spot on take on the Joe Budden Podcast a couple years ago
I’ve been of the opinion for years now that companies simply shouldn’t be allowed to even be that large. Companies that size warp the market by their sheer gravity, and there is no benefit to consumers that outweighs the damage they can do. In an ideal (yet still capitalist) world, no company would have a market cap…
He’s eligible for hundreds of millions of dollars in stock options if he can get stock prices high enough. So he has a vested interest in short-term moves to increase the company’s valuation. Although I guess announcing another merger hasn’t done that?
His emails show classic abuser behavior. The narcissistic tone, the emotional blackmail, the subtle threats, the not so subtle threats. He’s despicable.
“For the last four years, I’ve tried to get an answer for why we’re not on streaming,” [Barry] Levinson said. “No one, I mean no one, has been able to give me an answer. There’s money to be made. You can’t figure out how to handle whatever rights issues that may come up? You’re talking over 120-some episodes. And…
How revolutionary, and how hard NBC tried to fuck with it in search of ratings. We’re lucky we got what we did out of the show (in terms of number of episodes), but what we did get was, by and large, amazing, particularly the early years.
It’s hard to understate how revolutionary Homicide: Life on the Streets was in its time, but I urge everyone who hasn’t seen it to watch and notice just how good Braugher is in it. I’ll be rewatching and remember him.
Can happen with lung cancer too. A friend of mine, 48 years old, died a year ago about six weeks after being diagnosed (which in turn was only a few weeks after symptoms started, excessive coughing, etc.). Not a smoker, no risk factors.
Devestated to wake up to this news. When I try to explain to my students some aspects of what TV ‘used to be like’ (in terms of channels, scheduling, etc.), I often talk about how Homicide: Life on the Streets was on Friday nights at 10 - I was in my good-time mid-20s, but didn’t care - I was staying in and watching,…
perhaps second only to Richard Belzer’s John Munch
Pembleton is up there with the greatest TV characters, ever, of any genre.
Braugher’s Frank Pembleton was one of the greatest characters in the history of television police shows (in one of the most important shows ever). My recollection is that Andre Braugher himself requested the story-line of Frank’s stroke and recovery because he thought he would get bored playing the ultra-cool and…
True. There are no absolutes. I just meant to illustrate a point in answer to the OP, that there are illnesses which can take just weeks to be fatal. I knew two people dx’d with pancreatic cancer and neither lasted more than a month
Wow, that sucks. I loved him in everything I saw him in, but he’ll always be Pembleton to me. In a show filled with incredible performances he still stood out and even elevated those around him. Pembleton in the box was truly something to behold.
