At least doorknobs would be more useful

It is deeply disgusting and alarming to me how closely the language of this administration parallels that of a codependent family with an alcoholic head. “Don’t fuck things up!” is code for “Don’t make dad mad by asserting yourself at all, or he’ll take it out on us!

Yeah, I can understand that. The amount of attention it brings to a case, though, especially cold cases, can be so valuable.

Ive been listening to Root of Evil for the last few weeks (final episode next week) and its been the most shocking, engaging, but movingly told podcast from the great grandchildren of George Hodel likely perpetuator of the Black Dahlia murder. Before that, that Black Hands would be my recommendation, about Australian

I’ll add a few as well. Missing and Murdered (both seasons) are amazing and focus on victims that are usually ignored (indigenous women in Canada) - the coverage of the crimes in both seasons are superb, but I also found myself learning so much about indigenous communities in Canada, well worth the listen. Buried

Both seasons of Missing and Murdered are exceptional - can’t say enough about Connie Walker’s journalism

Adding to the Canadian podcast love Thunder Bay from Canadaland is amazing and infuriating.

Couldn’t agree more. Season one of In the Dark is great, but season two is phenomenal. The effort the podcast/journalists go into researching and vetting the case is truly commendable

As an Australian, the mere fact that the US has PRIVATE adoption agencies horrifies me.  All Australian adoptions are organised through the state child safety agency and heavily regulated.  Allowing adoptions to be organised by for-profit businesses is an obvious recipe for disaster.

It really is amazing to me that we still haven’t figured out child labor laws for social media yet. The second money starts being paid out to these families, the kids should be overseen and protected just as if they were working on a movie set or in the theater.

I was thinking the same thing. Basically kids on monetized YouTube channels are child actors — they should get the same protections as any other child performer. We can’t stop people from abusing their kids, but we can at least make it harder for them to make money off of it.

the ads are for Cool Girls: naturally beautiful, “low maintenance” women. it’s incredibly annoying that the models look exactly the same after they “apply” the products. they’re also oddly sexualized like naughty babies.

There are a lot of ranch haters here today.  Personally, I like it, but I don’t eat with everything.  I like dipping my pizza bones in it, and it’s good with carrots. (Celery can go to it’s stringy hell.)  I make a potato casserole that uses sour cream, ranch dip powder, and cheddar cheese with hashbrowns, and it’s

My kids are grown (and all graduated from college!) and I can tell you that you 100% correct. They were on their own with applications, because as you said, if they can’t manage that independently then they certainly weren’t ready for college.

Scott & Bailey is honestly better than Doctor Foster (which I also enjoyed). Like this new series, it’s also from Sally Wainwright, who can do no wrong IMO. Suranne Jones is great, and if you don’t already know Lesley Sharpe you’re in for a real treat!

You had me at hello, then you threw in a mention of writer Sally Wainright at the end and I literally pumped my fist and hissed yesssssssss at my computer screen.

Just when I thought Suranne Jones couldn’t be any more spectacular...

where do i sign up for ALLLLL of that

Can’t have too much ranch dressing!
