    That is so weird! :/

That's a lot. Too bad you can't estimate it ahead of time so you can avoid such issues.

I have to run the numbers. I prefer to put it into index funds (not max out the 401k outside of matching) but I'm hesitant because I hate having to pay fees for taking it out in case of an emergency or opportunity if it's in an ira. Right now not an option but I will run those numbers before I make a final decision.

That is horrible! I think once you change it you have to reduce a level of exemptions compared to what you had as single. And have the spouse do the same. For us I wasn’t working while we weren’t married and hub got hit hard with owing. So when we got married we had a nice return because of it. Same income.

Boo! But on the bright side at least they didn't have your cash for free for almost a year. Like you're lending them money for nothing. But it does sting to have to pay. :/ We usually follow the guideline and rarely have to pay.

Can you have your paycheck deposit the difference into a separate account? I know people have their job put part of their deposit into one account and the rest into a other. Just a thought.

If you don’t make a lot and count on that money to pay for something like school tuition that is time sensitive you need to review how you withhold so you don’t end up short while it is being processed. And they could be much longer than 3 weeks in some cases because it’s the IRS, they do what they want. If it’s just

Not in my control. Also not my phone bill. My inlaws are RVers full time and need it (and it’s mostly their phones that use it up) and they pay for it. I thinks for 4 phones plus an air card that is theirs it’s in the $300s. But they also don’t have an Internet bill (not like they have a choice though, they move

I love how you think peoppe use mega bytes. We are in the multiple of gigs. Some of that isn’t us but we have at least .5 for me since I’m at home on the wifi mostly and up to 3 for hub because of work stuff (I count needing a funny video or his game played so he doesn’t kill anyone at work as work related as that

So long as you keep using it, you’ve completed the challenge! (It doesn’t hurt to check up on the competition to make sure you’re getting a good deal as part of the challenge).

We are on the inlaws plans and I think they just upped the data part because now that they have iPhone 6s phones. But if we ever get our own plans we will definitely get one of the cheaper ones because that bill is a whole lot of nope.

Every time your account gets hit you have a dollar transfered to it. You can also set up automatic transfers to it, unusually there's a cap like 100 per month. That helps it rack up faster. If you're not spending too much you won't notice it. And you can always transfer it back if need be but you should be good enough

I was kind of already doing this and I moved cross country so no bandwidth to do more! I’d automate my savings transfer to ally except it’s a large amount every month and I’d rather do it when I’m sure nothing will pop up and mess up the account. I automate almost everything else but variable accounts like utilities

I’m trying to use my debit card as little as possible, originally to maximize rewards but then also because they ticked me off by inconveniencing me. I take my laziness very seriously. I stopped using it for regular purchases as soon as I got a half decent rewards card but I still had a few reoccurring items hitting

Actually it does if they’re lazy. I know my hub was given a hard time because out of college he had no credit cards and in order to do a background check they wanted to have those to verify he existed. I know, a background check involves more than that and it shouldn’t be a problem. But not if the people doing it are

That’s how their system works. Part of the equation is how old your credit history is. They don’t usually do it immediately but in so many years it, just like bad credit moments, your old card info will fall off your report and the equation changes for you and if you don’t have another card with as much history in it

It also helps if one person has their identity compromised. That way you always have some cards that aren’t messed up. It’s just a good idea to have some in your name and some on theirs and some you share. Remember, it’s always best to be a little cautious! If they didn’t want to charge me I’d still have a checking

Sharing definitely helps unless it's disney day or the like. Then I get my own!

Keep trying. And keep trying different things. I also found reminding myself of my long term goals and how my short sightedness was keeping from them helped a bit. Writing that down helps with that. I still struggle in other areas of my life so I get the frustration. Good luck!

Most places my hub has worked didn’t have cameras in the areas where the stuff was being stolen. Proprietary issues with 3rd parties aka clients. It was silly but there you go. They had to use other means of finding the idiot who was stealing phones and framed family photos. It happened at more than one job too.
