Back in the 1970's, Barbara Walters was a journalist who reported actual.................what’s that word again?....oh, yeah....NEWS.

I’m sorry. Are Saudis and Iranians white?

“Some might say you’re not fully speaking truth to power because of that diplomacy,” he added. “But I don’t think that trying to appeal to the better angels of our nature, as Lincoln put it, is somehow a compromise.”

Eh, I think we all understand the difference in corruption.

I’m talking about inequality, not crime.

No, but perspective is always healthy.

Yeah, people who complain about inequality in the US should spend some time in Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil. The shit going on in those countries makes the US look like one giant free range petting zoo in the Berkshires.

Well, look at how the words “racism,” “sexism,” “homophobia,” “transphobia,” “Nazi,” and “white supremacy,” get thrown around on this site due to someone’s associations, or what pronoun they’ve used, rather than what someone actually believes. The same is true nowadays on college campuses.

Of course not.

Based on what they did to her face, she probably asks her stylist to burn her hair off and replace it with spaghetti.

There was a time when the idea of “plastic surgery” was to look as if your face was....well....your actual face. Unfortunately, in various subcircles around West LA, New York, and Dallas, there’s a certain status in having a face that looks like it was literally molded out of plastic and then melted and frozen.

You have a very good point there. Although Obama does come across as condescending to many in the country, he’s certainly not doing it intentionally and shouldn’t be punished for being an exceptionally smart and erudite guy.

I agree. I think at a very minimum, continuous infrastructure work to ensure strong wage jobs that actually produce something tangible would benefit the entire economy and help those who feel left out. Democrats should have pushed this, hard, and not allowed Trump to steal the narrative here.

You’re 100% correct. Talking about cultural shifts and discussing economic issues in the heartland are not mutually exclusive.

Because the answer is that there’s no quick fix to this problem. The job market will be morphing dramatically over the next 20 years, and no one knows for certainty what the effects will be.

Yeah, I agree that a rape constitutes enough of a threat to public safety to mandate reporting it to the police.

Well damn, if Ben Sasse represented the rank and file Republican right, we’d be in better shape as a country. Too religious for my tastes, but better than all the rest.

It makes sense that Sasse, a “never Trumper,” would know this. It would be nice if other Republican politicians wouldn’t lie to their constituents, but I suppose telling the truth would have them labeled “globalists,” “neocons,” and “sheeple” and open them up to death threats.

Yeah, perhaps the university should have an obligation to report a rape to the police?

That’s correct. Many Trump supporters put falsely put Hillary in the same category of Maria Antoinette.
