That...uh... that's not really what the word 'proof' means. But ok, fine. We'll take as such for now. Your 'proof' _is_ deniable and is actively denied by someone with a different faith — one that says that you're wrong.

Eh, sounds like a gamer to me.
Eh, I just got REALLY disgusted with the fact that 1) no one seems to have heard of taking a phone message and 2) people kept pulling the "Wait.... must tell... something... important.... she's - *GLERK!*" routine. Insufferable.
I got about a quarter of the way through Doomsday Book before I quit in disgust. Completely turned me off of EVER trying her work again. Nice to know I'm know the only one.
Indeed. That's useless without also including the yaw and mass.
Well, if they say they _Can_ do it, then they already have done so in the lab. So I'd say its a fait accompli. But yes, I'm all in favor of it.
W.T.F.? I asked a question of fact, not opinion. I didn't attack anyone or try to bait anyone. Is it really against community policy to have an actual discussion, or is this site only for the kool-aid drinkers?
Is his science wrong? It's not exactly intuitively obvious, but could he be right? What's the data say? If it backs him up, them the charge of "racist" is simply inapplicable.
I was very pleased by the actress who performed the role of Idris/Sexy. That note of girlish pique when she yelled "Where's my Thief?!" in the cage was just note-perfect.
I had just noticed that the instruction tonight in that lovely shot of the brass plaque and was wondering about it. Was delighted when Sexy brought it up.
I... never for a second characterized Amber as anything other than pure Fantasy. What's the sci-fi part? I don't see it...
Well, to be fair, Mulder is factually correct, within the context of the world of the X-Files — aliens exist, conspiracies happen, ghosts and monsters abound, and Scully would have to be an idiot not to recognize it after a few episodes.
OK, your opinion re: Anathem is objectively incorrect. Anathem is pure SF. The aliens are from another universe — the "less perfect" interpretation is just one and few of the characters would accept such a description without arguing. It's _relentlessly_ scientific (even when it goes to some wacky places) and is,…
I thought it was cannon that Zah'Thris brought them up from the great machine before they pulled their B4 shenanigans. As I recall, JMS said as much, long ago in one of the newsgroups.
See, I _love_ me some closed-loop time travel! In fact, I always thought some of the biggest failures in ST:TNG and Babylon 5 were their failure to embrace the concept. (Specifically, they should have taking the disembodied Data-head back to the old west and dropped it in the cavern thus sparing Data the inconvenience…
Exactly. The whole line of argument is a theory about the history of the observable universe, which we know had a probability of one: it's what happened. To talk about how probable it was is a logic fallacy (technically it's a probabilistic version of a modens tolens sylogism, which is erronious logic).
Never said anything about "_as_ racist". But yes, "WHITE POWER!" is just as offensive to me as "BLACK POWER!". Both are crazy and wrong.
Naw, I'm nowhere near extreme enough to be a self-parody. But I did notice you didn't address... anything I said, really. Where is my reasoning flawed? Why is it ok to treat individuals who are members of groups that, in some contexts, have been historically oppressed, by a different standard than those members of…
Not remotely. And yes, I've got a pretty good education and know my history better than the average schmuck. I just have a very different opinion of its relevance to social justice than you do.
Glee will never be the same again... :)
