Dear Subaru

FOR GOD’S SAKE START MAKING QUICK WAGONS WITH MANUALS AGAIN.

And while you’re at it, offer manuals with anything other than base models! Maybe you’ll win back my business!

I drive a 2016 Mazda 3 i GT. 6 speed, hatchback, Bose stereo, moonroof, overall pretty fun for a commuter. I was pretty happy with it, until a month ago. To avoid being the guy talking money on the internet, suffice to say I’ve more than doubled my monthly payments to pay it off so I can get rid of it.
Why?
I live in

MN resident here. Running, driving, clean looking AWD vehicle. After the last two snowstorms we ended this winter on, that thing’s probably already sold. Despite being a 22 year old Audi that’s starting to rust and has enough miles to make you worry. Might make a good winter beater / junk hauler if you had a fallback

“a motorcycle that will inevitably kill you”

The bike won’t kill you. I’ve owned several bikes and ridden many miles, and the bike has never once been responsible for anything but exactly what I told it to do.

Now, the people too busy texting / taking selfies / reading their Kindle / not paying attention, they will

Yet it struck a chord in popular culture, at least a little bit....

When I was in high school, my girlfriend and I went to her neighborhood Target store in her Escort 5 speed. Typical early ‘90s car teal.

That sweet new AWD wagon with a 6-speed manual and a reasonably nice interior. Wait, I live in America. Never mind....

Yeah, about that. I live in Minnesota, and foreseeable forecast doesn’t get over today’s high of 24°. Being Minnesota, they will salt the piss out of every mile of my 50 miles a day commute with car-cancer-inducing chlorides. Given the history of every car I’ve ever had that turned that lovely shade of brownish

If Mazda can grow a pair and offer this with a manual transmission, AWD, and in a wagon, they’ll get as much of my money as they feel like asking for when I’m done with my 3 hatch.

I feel like a lunatic typing this, but this car is too nice. I’ve wanted a ‘79 TA for years, but if I ever get one, it’d have to be one I wouldn’t feel bad about modifying to squeeze a more reasonable amount of power from it. To drive it. This one’s been railroaded into the museum piece life, and is likely the last

Remember the good old days when Subaru still sold fun WAGONS? I’m still holding out hope that they’ll sell another Outback XT or Legacy GT wagon to us ‘Mericans someday.

There is no better tool for cutting plaster and wood lathe than an oscillating saw. I’ve done what feels like a million new outlets and switches in my 100+ year old house. I’ve tried utility knives, spiral saws, reciprocating saws, nothing comes close to as clean an end result. Carbide grit blade for the plaster, thin

If only it wasn’t fucking yellow. Though that dashboard is giving me flashbacks to my old Legacy 5mt, which was a fantastic car.

I’ve had a few bad wrenching experiences, but there’s one going on right now and I’m hoping one of you goons can help. It’s my brother’s 1977 Ford Maverick coupe. Before you heckle me for caring about a stupid Maverick, know that it’s a rust-free factory 302 in Minnesota. Pretty rare.

One of these days I should gopro my ‘07 RWB to capture that. Staintunes with baffles removed for the win.

I had a ‘92 SSE S/C back in college. I picked it up from a friend of my uncle for like $700 because it had a big dent in the quarter and rusted rockers. Green with tan leather. It had those amazing million way power seats, and to this day remains the most comfortable car I’ve driven. I put a lot of miles on that car,

If Acura follows through with this and makes AWD cars with a REAL MANUAL TRANSMISSION, I'd consider buying one. As of now, my selections are limited, and I'm pretty happily on my second Subaru.

I remember when I started driving, my first goal was to get my grandpa to teach me to drive a stick. He had a 1992 Chevy S10 5 speed, and there wasn't much I wanted more than to drive it. The day he taught me, I remember being insanely frustrated that every time I got going, to start shifting gears, he shouted at me

I'm glad to see somebody beat me to this. My first thought reading this article's title was "The greatest Honda ever built wasn't a car."

I hope Honda finds themselves back in the realm of the insane, like the old days.
