My vote goes for legendary in a bad way. The GM Iron Duke, specifically the Tech4 or 4Tech or whatever it's supposed to be. Heavy, gutless, not terribly reliable. Bad on most fronts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, as I wasn't born yet when the Civic originated, but wasn't it kind of an econobox theory from the start? The impression I always got was that they were just good little cars. No bulk, no bullshit, just a basic car with a basic engine, and being so basic and light is what made them good. And…

A friend used to have a T-Type, might even have been an '83. Loved that car. A dog until 10 mph, but God, when it spooled up, it would leave tire all over the Minneapolis streets....
