I'm yet to actually brick any of mine, but I have had to blind-flash one a few times when a kernel bug stopped the screen from turning on.

This was exactly what went through my brain too ...

Note to everyone: Please don't do what Mr Tech Writer says. Installing a first-release of Jellybean will not improve your user experience compared with whatever stable build you currently have.

The problem with Bluetooth Headsets wasn't that they're a bad piece of tech, or that they make you look like an idiot, it's that when they first came out there was no efficient way to use them. They were a gadget ahead in time compared to the software tools required to use it properly.

HTC Touch. I was wowing people with a full touchphone for almost a year before the iphone came out.

Nook simple touch, root it to get access to the Android underneath, then install the kindle app.

This is really only an extension of Google's scorched earth OS policy with Android to start with. They want to own advertisements, and they've shown over and over again that they're willing to take a hit to the bottom line on each sale to achieve it.

Also, I was pleasantly surprised that ICS on LG's new Optimus LTE II doesn't significantly detract from the experience. Also, their keyboard is good, and their power toggles in the notification panel CAN be customized, unlike Samsung's.

Just throwing it out there, but for me at least the lockscreen question has been made completely moot by Facial unlock.

My wife is an executive in an Asian country where going without makeup is not an option for a professional woman. The permanent eyeliner saves her a couple of extra minutes in the morning, which is more time for sleep.

It's kind of just a throw-a-way. Lee Myung Bak and a few of his other head honchos are actually also members of the hardcore evangelical christian churches over here.

I didn't realise this until just recently, but Lee Myung Bak, and quite a few of his close cohorts (in addition to being slimy corrupt bastards in the usual ways of Korean politicians) are also ultra evangelical Christians.

Unfortunately, I now regard those in both Korean governments as very intelligent.

Wow, thankyou. I never knew of her, despite (I now realise) studying much of her work.

Not trying to be a downer, but she co-authored "A Monetary History of the United States, 1867-1960" in 1962-63 while she was working towards her Doctorate.

Spare older android phone -> personal website that uses basically NO power. If you don't get much traffic to your personal site, then the low power of the phone's cpu is not going to be an issue.

I think my wife would actually be happy if I lost my wedding ring. It'd be the inescapable excuse she needs to hassle me into buying her a new, shinier, ring.

We used blu-tack to secure our base station to the ground. Roomba makes it home almost all the time now.

You clearly don't actually have a clue what you're talking about it (and also have questionable vision if you think the dustbin is that small).

While I appreciate the idea, this "improvement" over the 780 is pointless. The beauty of a Roomba is turning / scheduling it on when you're not home. Having a remote control so you can control it while you're in the house doesn't really add any value to that idea.
