China: Following the same road of terrible cultural obsessions as South Korea, but doing so faster and without any safety standards.

This. Compared to years of kidnapping and torture, being a lunatic in court doesn't really make a dent on the "How much do I despise you" scale - it was already maxed out.

I always figured the person is trying to dodge part of the "Giving cash is tacky" stigma, while still effectively giving you cash because they think it's the most useful thing for you.

That sounds like my wedding. I'm Australian, she's Korean - lets just do exactly we want and use "cultural differences" as the catch all reasoning for doing it like that.

This is a Korean perspective on it, but basically, when you do all cash weddings, all the time, then ultimately what goes around comes around.

That sold out sign made me lose a few more of the tiny dregs of hope I had left for humanity.

I'm sorry, but really, this is a bit ridiculous.

As an expat living in South Korea I really really want to just put this down as another case of the American soldiers acting like pricks (which it probably is, but I could just be stereotyping there to keep my peace of mind).

Holy shit, this looks like the best thing ever which-I-have-never-tasted.

I'm surprised no-one mentioned the strategic vomit yet. It's a terrible terrible thing, but once you hit your 30's, it's sometimes the lesser of two evils.

If you (in a rare, buzzed, moment of clarity) realise that you've overdone it with those three rounds of shots, and that your belly is full of nasty ethanol that's

Mentally, my brain is trying to fly about 5 different ways on this article. Part of me is wondering if this is the same Jez that is all up in arms about how much slut shaming goes on towards people who choose to work in the sex industry, while apparently barfing constantly over these (arguably similar) arrangements.

Being a trader, I was going to make a serious post about the terrible feedback loop of testosterone (and its effects on risk taking) guys get under when trading successfully, but then I realised the forbes article was so stupid it wasn't worth it.

Oh I have no issue with the overall idea of people getting hpv. It's incredibly prevalent, untreatable (afaik) and not really all that serious except for the increased cancer risk.

o_O

Yeah, the problem there is you're dreaming if you think *any* organisation spends that little and achieves "High quality impact measurement".

Simon Crean is a Labor politician.
Swan as well (he lost a party vote to Kevin Rudd) - hence the Rudd's a Goose / Swan joke.

I could see this being an issue if we had a magical overflowing pool of transplant lungs looking for donors, rather than a tragically overflowing pool of needy recipients looking for lungs.

In many cases, it's also a cultural stereotype thing. The same cultural stereotypes that emphasise feminine submissiveness in Asian cultures also accentuate male dominance, and a whole host of associated less than pleasant behaviours that goes with it.

It's simply whether your attraction hinges on including the cultural stereotypes or not.

Sounds more like scapegoating to me.
