I can’t believe Strong got dispensation to kill a waiter so he could feel the full emotional impact onscreen.

I’d like to finish up Far Cry 6 - I get the dislike the game seems to have generated, but there is a sort of icon-chasing pabulum that I can’t resist. It’s a comfort thing in these dark times.
So Kendall is for sure gone-zo, no? I’d hate to see Jeremy Strong go, but the string has played out for Kendall narratively, and his death would be a nuclear bomb for the show.
GoJo is a major soap and disinfectant maker in my city so the last couple eps had me confused as shit.
I don’t think Tom could believe Logan was being nice to him - even if Logan was out of his head. It was genuinely sweet and touching when Tom called Logan “pop.” The man who once called him the Cunt of Monte Cristo no less.
And not a rough-jack to be found!
When has Ivanka expressed vulnerability?
Has the Marvel house still always been a thing, or has it grown as the universe gets more creaky, reliant on multiple continuities or whatever. Because there are films where the director’s style shines through - Taika Waititi and James Gunn come to mind.
Evil dies tonight!
People are going to take their kids to this movie - do kids care if Pratt is voicing the character? H Jon Benjamin is right there. Get real voice actors for these parts!!!
It’s a testament to Kieran Culkin’s performance that he’s gone from my most despised character to someone deserving of the most empathy. His vulnerability and faux-carelessness when dealing with Logan is painful.
I’m early on in FC6 but am enjoying it - just enough variety in combat, landscape looks nice, and it’s one of the first games I’ve played on PS5 so i’m liking the brief load times and what not.
There’s a difference for me between always live and open world. I can’t get into MMOs or games as a service type deals where you have to keep up the with the Joneses in some respect. But I’ll gladly wander a good open world in a single-player game.
You are kidding me - this property is fun, engaging, consumer-friendly, and entirely single-player? This game was barely on my radar prior to some of these reviews.
I review I saw made a good point, insofar as the ridiculous reverence these modern franchise reboots/sequels pay to what came before. Carpenter’s Halloween is a stripped down slasher. Why on earth would you complicate that by bringing all these nothing characters back? Having them hanging out in a karaoke bar moaning…
It’s farcical. It could’ve been interesting, say, if in her mania and obsession Laurie becomes the Loomis and whips up the town to go after Michael. A bunch of ppl get slaughtered - including her kid- and that sets up the mano y mano for Ends.
Not for nothing, but I have two (very much unpublished) novels and naturalistic dialogue is a major focus for me. As in, I’ll read back the line to make sure this is something a human would say.
My only complaint is some of the speechifying skirted maudlin territory. But there was a nice payoff and the last ep delivers a nice, depressing wallop.
I quite liked it, but I feel like Flanagan’s style of empathy horror is just going to be divisive.
The wine bottle bit came off to me as illuminating Kendall’s coked up narcissism and selfishness in Rava’s eyes, rather than building some rift with Naomi.
