If the originals have been damaged or degraded over time then of course remastering is the proper course. If the effects look dated, like ST:TOS where you can see the compositing in the space scenes, a case can be made. But taking 4:3 and turn it into 16:9 which either cuts the top and bottom off or expand the shot…
