The Thanos Copter actually got a pretty great in-continuity explanation in the recent-ish Infinity Wars: Fallen Guardian.

Even the normally reserved UK cinema I saw Civil War had a crazy reaction to the Giant Man scene - it was clear how many weren’t expecting it and how well the surprise actually played.

Now playing

They absolutely did. Bowie covered Nite Flights and often spoke about Walker’s influence on him.

There was a lovely bit on BBC Radio way back for Bowie’s 50th birthday, where Scott had sent a message in and the DJ played it to an audibly moved Bowie.

One of the greats. Not just that astonishing baritone, but his songwriting, his choice of material, the proud displays of taste and intelligence and the careful construction of his work in the last twenty years.

I agree with you entirely about Thanos. And I’m not really bothered about the emotional fulfilment of monsters. But the plain text of the movie isn’t “hey, just because he behaves like a monster doesn’t mean he doesn’t love you.”.

How does the movie legitimise Thanos’ abusive love for Gamora? He’s awful, he’s abusive, then he murders her to get a tool to do something horrible. He thinks he’s the hero, he feels emotion, and the film shows us his way of thinking, but if you think any of it makes that okay then I’m bewildered. Don’t you think bad

Oh man, don’t pin this on poor John Deacon. He’s been out of it since the Freddie tribute show, pretty much.

Yeah, I think the Kree are explained through Ronan but the Skrulls aren't mentioned.

I enjoyed this article a great deal, good job!

He did his thing and the crowd went bananas.

It was so strange that Titus’ plotline was that he was in Daredevil, but so was Bernthal? I half expected Bernthal to be playing himself, method acting Punisher as there was an as-yet unrevealed dimension to Murdock’s Doorman.

The Muppet films, especially the most recent two and Christmas Carol are really up there. All the songs are exceptional and the production of each song is distinct. They’ve got character, jokes, dynamism, scale and they carry the story in the best possible way.

The amazing songs in Mamma Mia (and I think that’s a group of songs to match the best of Sondheim or Rodgers & Hammerstein) do an awful lot of the lifting, but’s self-consciously stagey and deliberately low-key at the same time. A big part of the fun in Mamma Mia and the sequel is watching thesps bash out a bit of

I’m completely in support of the AV Club list as it stands, but I don’t think that’s a reasonable perspective. Infinity War is a story without a closure that feels just, but it does tell a story - Thanos’ campaign - from beginning to end.

Oh damn, and two Judge Dredds.

And three directors of the Impossible Mission Force.

I really enjoyed Onrush and have been returning to it weekly for the last couple of months. However, it’s best moments just remind me of Excitetruck without being quite as fun and now I just want a new Excitetruck.

That’s long been the job of JJJ in the comics too - he’s a blustering blowhard, but since the late 60s he’s not really been the bad guy, just one with a peculiar blind spot about Spider-Man.

In the game, he does shout down and cut off anyone who tries to say nice things about Spidey but is quick to believe (or

No, we can only infer what Slott thinks. There is no narrator who frames the morality of the story. We are presented with Otto’s thoughts from the start of the storyline and he is unreliable - an egotist, blind to Peter’s strengths and to his own weaknesses. He’s a criminal, a murderer and no matter his ambitions for
