I do love that sequence, and it comes with the weight of the plot, and the degree to which Hunt pushes himself is actually shocking. But there’s something CGI-y about the set which does rob the stunt of some of its physical edge. It’s more impressive when you see what Cruise and Ferguson went through to make it happen.

Whilst it’s superfluous to the plot of Rogue Nation, I think it does a couple of important jobs. Ghost Protocol was huge in scale, and RN was lower key - even the ending is a chase-cum-heist rather than an action blowout. So it gives the audience something huge, in the style of Bond, ahead of the fun to come.

Even 2 has good stuff in it. The climbing, the henchman with tape over his mouth under a mask, the insane bike chase.
