I'm just so tired of the words "retelling" and "reimagining"

That was the part that bothered me the most. Like, YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY KNOW THESE WOMEN. THEY CANNOT EXPRESS THEMSELVES. THEY WILL NOT HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO SO IN THIS FILM. THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL MYSTERIES.

I don't think anybody's actually upset. Exasperated, maybe. It's disappointing to see yet another movie that claims to be (read: sells itself as) female-centered actually be completely about a dude.

Yeah, that's exactly why the guillotine was invented. And it worked super well, for what it's worth - takes a lot of human error out of the equation.

That's part of the problem, here, though - not only were the proceedings questionable, it was not a tidy execution a la guillotine. Awful all around.

I read it as an elementary schooler and all of the meta-humor went completely over my head. Just imagine a tiny, angry nerd in the corner of a Boys & Girls Club gym going, "WHY DID THE TRANSLATOR CUT OUT SO MUCH? WHY CAN'T I FIND THE SEQUEL??"

I agree about the video - why there's any controversy is sort of beyond me?
